    3. PROUD WIFE OF TENNESSEE ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SGT. CURRENTLY ON TRAIN UP FOR DEPLOYMENT FOR KOSOVO. Hi Linda, This is interesting, I am like Dewey, I have never been able to connect one set of Webbs to the other.I can connect them through Nancy Hall Webb, but not to her husband John. I am interested in knowing how you know that Million was the sister to the John, that you have his will . This would be great if we can prove a connection between the two sets of Webbs. Cathy

    3. Hi Gerry I'd be real interested in any info you have on Preston Human, his siblings & ancestors. Preston's sister, Jane Human who married Simeon Hurst, was my great great grandmother. I have Preston with 11 kids, and some descendants for 8 of them, but I'm not sure just how accurate my info is. 3. >On a Family group sheet in the Hall file in the MC Genealogy Room [shared by > Ralph W. Garrett] it lists the marriage year for Jonathan McPeters and Hopa > Hall as 1824. I wonder where this date originated?!?!?! Possibly from the year of birth for Martha McPETERS in the 1850 census? The issue would be the estimated birth year for "son" David McPETERS being about 1819 based on the 1850, 1860, and 1880 census. I have not been able to locate this family in 1870 - in 1880 they were in Madison Co., AL. David is listed as a widower in 1880, so Rhoda WEBB, daughter of John WEBB and Nancy HALL (hope I am right as to which WEBBs!) must have died. So - was David not actually the son of Jonathan McPETERS? Perhaps his stepson? The names of the children of David McPETERS and Rhoda WEBB certainly suggest the HALL connection with a daughter named Hopa (Hopie) Frances and a son named Martin. But there is also the McPETERS naming pattern with sons Jonathan and John. I am still leaning toward Jonathan and Hopa marrying a bit 'earlier' than was usual for a male in those days . . . about 1819. Jonathan and Hopa's daughter Martha, who I have finally determined did not fall off the face of the earth after 1850, was married to John BREEDLOVE abt. 1853. Year of marriage is estimated by birth of first child Rufus Breedlove in 1854 and I was able to make the BREEDLOVE connection with the Union Baptist Church records. Georgeanne

    3. Hello Linda Thanks for your reply, No Linda I don't know for sure where Jonathan was from. Mr. Harold McPheeters has been reseaching all the variations of the McPHEETERS, McPEETERS, McPETERS, McFEETERS and more name for about 25 years. He says his finding point to the Jonathan McPETERS who was the husband of Hopa Hall, as being the son of David McPeters b(1756) and his first wife. They lived in Jefferson County, Tenn. in the 1790's so this could be where he was born. There is a Jonathan McPETERS in the 1830 Robertson County, Tenn Census. He then shows up in the 1850 Morgan County, Tenn Census with wife Hopa HALL and their children. I don't have a marriage date for them either. Jesse Columbus, Georgia

    3. Linda, I am sending this through TNMORGAN so Cathy Martin can see it also. I would love to hear more about Elizabeth. Oh yes, Kathy Freels' married name is Brown. Her website if the Joe and Lucy Human Freels site. Do either of you have anything on Willis' brothers Riley or Martin? I have nothing on who they married or if they were married nor do I have anything on who their sister Polly married. Also, do you know where Willis and Margaret are buried? Mother says they are buried in Webb Cemetery on the Morgan/Scott Co. lines. I can't find them listed. It could be that their gravesites are unmarked or can't be read Thanks, and I hope we can pole vault that wall together. Gerry

    3. Hi Linda, You and I just keep crossing paths. I think I have talked to you before about the Freels line. My gr aunt Lucy Human(daughter of Charles Wesley and Elizabeth WEBB Human) was married to Joe Freels. When do they have the Freels reunion? Was there a Cathy Freels from Lebanon, Tn. there? Her married name escapes me right now.Her e-mail address is LITTLEDIDDLE which doesn't help a great lot. She does have her own website though. Our families were very close when I was young. I think I may have talked to you about Nancy Naomi and which one married Preston Human. I didn't have some of the info you had on the grandfather of John Webb. Are you saying that John and Million Webb are John Webb's (who married Nancy Hall ) lineage also? I wasn't sure if this were two separate families of Webbs. I only had Nancy connected to Million Webb. I got this same info from the article I mentioned before. Million was the son of Merry Webb, Sr. of Henry Co., Va. The pedigree on Nancy Hall goes through Martin and Chloe, Million Webb and Samuel Hall, Sr. with Million's father as Merry Webb and Samuel Hall, Sr.'s father as John Hall The John Webb who married Nancy Hall is kinda leaning against that brick wall with no ancestors. I didn't have him connected to Nancy's Webbs. Do you have a copy of the will or any documentation? As I said, what I got came was an old newsletter and it doesn't say who gave the info, just that it came from the Historical Society. I haven't been over to the library in several years. 3. PROUD WIFE OF TENNESSEE ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SGT. CURRENTLY ON TRAIN UP FOR DEPLOYMENT FOR KOSOVO. Hi Nancy, I am at the same brick wall with my husbands two Webb lines. His first Webb line is the same as yours. The general "idea" is that Francis is the father of John and that Mitchell was his brother. However, there is no proof of this or at least I haven't seen it. However, Francis is not a name that is passed down thru the generations.Willis Webb is the only one that I have come across that has a son named Frances. The names that appear the most, as far as sons go, are John, Samuel and William. In the second generation of John Sr. the names Robert and James also appear alot. The second Webb set is that of Million Webb that married Samuel Hall Sr.She is the daughter of Merry Wren and Elizabeth Martin Webb,by general "ideal".Her parentage is also not proven. This Merry Wren Webb was born 1697 in VA and died Feb 1779 in Pittsylvania Co.,VA.(it's now Henry Co.).If this is the father of Million, her mother's side is a nightmare and one if you dig into it you will find a lot of information out there on her but no proof. You will also find that her partentage always or almost always starts an arguement between those researchers "in the know". She is the daughter of one of two men. Melatiah Martin or Martin Martin. They both had a daughter named Elizabeth that were born at or near the same time. Both these Elizabeths married Webbs. So see you aren't the only one with Webb brick walls.LOL I am sorry to say that I don't work on his biological father's side of the family to much.(that's this side)It has way too many brick walls,Walker,Voiles,Webb,Wright,Underwood, ect. But if I can help you in any way, maybe between those of us with brick walls, we can figure it out. Cathy Martin

We might could find out more than we'll looking for. When I come up for the Scott and Freels Reunion, everyone but the cousins that live in Morgan Co. come. I don't understand that. I had not heard about the Roane County tax book that contained the tax records for the years of 1814, 1815, 1816, and 1817. There were two Culbirth. But again, I do not know who was the son of who. I have tried to follow Francis, and again I have lost his trail. If I remember right, I only found one case where John Webb was signing with Francis on a piece of land. There was nothing stating the relationship between the two men. I was hoping this would tell me they were father and son. No such luck. I do know that John Webb's grandfather was also a John Webb in Wilkes Co., NC. He died that same year our John was born in 1785. The grandfather, John Webb list his three son in his will, Culbirth, Jonthan and Francis. Jonthan married, but had no sons. This older John Webb was also the brother of Million Webb that married Samuel Hall, Sr. of Virginia. (They were the parents of our Martin and Samuel Hall.) 3. Gerry, Thanks for the support!!! Yeah I can relate to that!!! I have copies of my Dad and his 13 siblings birth certificates, all in German. I know very little German (barely enough to get by) I was able to make out the names and birthdates, but everything else is "greek" to me.... My Dad translated them for me so I know what they say, but instead of converting them to English, I just scanned as they were and left in German form. This part of my line has proven to be my most difficult since none of my grandparents information is here, right now I'm having to brush up on my German so I can make a few phone calls. I'm trying to convince my Dad to speak German as much as possible to my kids so they will pick up on it easier than I did, learning a second language isn't as easy when you get older... I do good to speak English! LOL. 3. Linda, I have a page from an old Morgan County Hist. Soc. newsletter showing the lineage of John Webb, Sr. It shows John Webb, Sr. being born 1785 in N. C. Further on it says that it is believed that he and the Halls both came from Wilkes County, N. C. at about the same time. The article reads "From 1805 when the Indian title to the Cumberland Plateau was extinguished, until 1817 the territory that was to become Morgan County was a part of Roane County. The first report of a Webb being in the area was of his marriage to Nancy Hall in 1909 in Roane County, later Morgan Co. Several years ago an old Roane County tax book was discovered that contained the tax records for the yeas of 1814, 1815, 1816, and 1817. John Webb is listed for all four years and is the only Webb shown. The 1820 census was only a head count. The 1830 census indicates that there are now 3 other Webb families living in the county in addition of John Webb, Sr. They are Culbirth, between 20 and 30 years old, Mitchell between 40 and 50 yrs. old and Francis, between 60 and 70 years old. John was now 45 yrs. old. The article goes on to say that John Mitchell and Cutbirth are all of an age group where they would be brothers. Francis appears to be too old for a brother. John's age and place of birth comes from his will, Morgan County Deed Book M. Pages 263-64, dated july 30, 1841. Several children are listed, but the name Cutbirth is not one of them. It's also interesting that Nancy Hall's family goes back to Martin Hall whose mother was a "Webb". I haven't been able to find anything else on Cutbirth either. This article was one of the first items which helped me with my line which is also from John and Nancy. My line comes through Willis Webb and Margaret Stewart. When your line goes back that far, you're related to almost half of Morgan County in one way or another. If you find anything else on John's parentage, I would love to know about it and I will keep you in mind, too. I've run into that same brick wall.
