    1. Re: [TNMORGAN] Hall Scott Webb And so on
    2. Hi- I found this on the Familysearch.org web site: It may be a start for you. Nancy Hall b. 1787 N.C. d. 31 Mar 1857 Emory, Morgan, Tn Md. 4 Aug. 1809 Roane Co. Tn John Webb, Jr. b. 8 feb 1785 Wilkes co. N.C. d. Emory, Morgan, Tn John Webb b. abt. 1759 Va d. (I have his will) Wilkes Co. N.C. Sp. Ustley/Ursula I believe that John, Jr. is a brother to my Mitchell who was born in 1787 in Wilkes Co. N.C. I don't think that Cutbirth is the father of them. Or maybe Mitchell and John are cousins and John is John's father and Cutbirth is Mitchell's father. Or maybe this older Francis is their father. I am with everyone else in this confusion part. I had made a suggestion earlier about Church records. Baptisms, Births, Marriages, Deaths were records in whichever church they were going to at the time of these events. I do show some webbs having made Land purchases including my Mitchell. I am too far away (Washington State) to do any of the leg work. Tax records aren't enough. If we could find more wills that would help everyone out in the long run. 2. Hi Gerry- My line is Mitchell that left Morgan county by the 1840 Census to settle southern Illinois. Just wondering if anyone has checked church records for morgan county? Do they exist? The article reads "From 1805<br>when the Indian title to the Cumberland Plateau was extinguished, until 1817<br>the territory that was to become Morgan County was a part of Roane County.<br>The first report of a Webb being in the area was of his marriage to Nancy<br>Hall in 1909 in Roane County, later Morgan Co. I think I have talked to you before about the Freels line. My gr aunt Lucy Human(daughter of Charles Wesley and Elizabeth WEBB Human) was married to Joe Freels. When do they have the Freels reunion? Was there a Cathy Freels from Lebanon, Tn. there? Her married name escapes me right now.Her e-mail address is LITTLEDIDDLE which doesn't help a great lot. She does have her own website though. Our families were very close when I was young. I think I may have talked to you about Nancy Naomi and which one married Preston Human. I didn't have some of the info you had on the grandfather of John Webb. Are you saying that John and Million Webb are John Webb's (who married Nancy Hall ) lineage also? I wasn't sure if this were two separate families of Webbs. I only had Nancy connected to Million Webb. I got this same info from the article I mentioned before. Million was the son of Merry Webb, Sr. of Henry Co., Va. The pedigree on Nancy Hall goes through Martin and Chloe, Million Webb and Samuel Hall, Sr. with Million's father as Merry Webb and Samuel Hall, Sr.'s father as John Hall The John Webb who married Nancy Hall is kinda leaning against that brick wall with no ancestors. I didn't have him connected to Nancy's Webbs. Do you have a copy of the will or any documentation? As I said, what I got came was an old newsletter and it doesn't say who gave the info, just that it came from the Historical Society. I haven't been over to the library in several years. Sure wish I could get out and go like I used to. I would love to spend a few days at the library now. 2. http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/family/article/0,1406,KNS_308_2489406,00.html Neat story, Julie.. I remember laundry in Fentress County when we had no electricity till 1958. My Aunt Effie Leffew had a big huge black pot outside(sure wish I had that now <G>) She boiled water in it. Then it was hauled to another galvinized tub. She also had a well where you had to drop the bucket and and draw the water from about 25 or 30 feet down. It was as cold as ice and so oooo good. Well, on wash day we kids took turns drawing the water as it was called. That was when I lived with Aunt Effie. After my mother died we lived in Fork Mountain. Daddy had come up north looking for work...Guess who had to provide for us, my stepmother, 6 yr. old brother and 2 yr. old sister.....ME age 11. There was no well but a shared pump for the neighborhood. After I went to the store..postoffice for a nickel script, if I was lucky I got a dime. Then I would work pumping water for people to wash clothes. After the was I'd scrub the outhouse with left over wash water...My how times have changed......Now, I just go to the basement and throw the laundry in the washer.....No more pumping or drawing water but these old arms sure ache like I still do <G> Milly WARD Piros List Rootsweb Administrator for Anderson Co Tn~Campbell Co Tn and Fentress Co Tn http://www.geocities.com/millyella/listofpages.html Genealogists live in the PAST Lane

    3. Hi, Yes, this is the Nancy of Martin and Chloe who married John Webb. We were trying to decide if John's line was a separate Webb line than the one Nancy comes from, that being Million Webb and Merry Wenn Webb. ----- Original Message ----- From: <TIME4MUSIC@aol.com> To: <TNMORGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 10, 2003 5:56 AM Subject: Re: [TNMORGAN] John Webb Sr - Gerry Question > In a message dated 12/9/2003 11:37:39 PM Eastern Standard Time, > deweyger@bellsouth.net writes: > > > > The pedigree on Nancy Hall goes through Martin and Chloe, > > Million Webb and Samuel Hall, Sr. with Million's father as Merry Webb and > > Samuel Hall, Sr.'s father as John Hall The John Webb who married > > Nancy Hall is kinda leaning against that brick wall with no ancestors > > Hi Gerry .... > My Hall files aren't in the order they should be ... which Nancy Hall is > this? 3. Hi all, I just found a page on John Webb with his parents listed as John Webb and Usteley. It shows John, their son, as being born in Martinsdale, N.C., 1785. This information came from the LDS Church records so I do not have a source on it. I might be able to find one, but it will take awhile. Sometimes we have access to the actual information as it was sent in. I had forgotten about this until I went into Family Search. It's not that reliable but does give a direction. Gerry

    3. Hi Cathy, You were referring to Elizabeth, wife of Merry Webb. I was just curious to how much info you had because I have nothing. Is there any way you can scan the pension application of Willis? I would love to have a copy. He is my gr grandfather. I have about the same information on Riley and Polly that you have. Probably from the census records. 3. Jesse, I have some Morgan County marriage records which have been transcribed from the Wartburg Library. It shows Jonathan McPeters married to Hopa Hall about 1825 (N.C.). Second marriage was to Phebe Laymance about 1836. I don't know who compiled the lists, but the dates tell me that the info came from somewhere other than a marriage license. It's possible that they were derived from census records as I "think" some of the records were destroyed during the Civil War. Anyway, the second marriage might give you something to work on.
