    1. [TNMORGAN] Scaning
    2. Cathy Maybe by folding the pension record to fit your scan area..then scan the other side. Save as 2 letters with the ending .txt to Word Pad. After the scan of both sides then copy the second page to the first...Did I confuse you????Then you can send it as a txt rather than a jpg. When I scan something that has writing on both sides I place about 10 sheets of unused paper on the back. It seems to keep the print from showing through. 3. Morning Cathy, I understand the scanner dilemma all too well. My scanner went haywire after I bought a new printer last year. I guess they don't like each other. ;-) Thanks so much for the offer on the pension for Willis WEBB. My address is below. I keep thinking there was another pension file I was going to ask you about - perhaps my brain will re-engage after Christmas. I only got through the "M's" in the Civil War pension files at the Wartburg library the last time I was there. But I certainly found a good bit of data which connected to the various families in that first half of the files! They are truly a gold mine! Will you get to have your husband home for at least a few days next week? I sure hope so! My dad was in the Navy and we spent too many holidays apart when I was a child. Take care! 3. Linda, I have ordered two CD resource discs today. It may take two weeks for them to get here. Hopefully they will show where this information on the Hendrix's came from. Some LDS records have great documentation and some do not. The earlier records seemed to require more proof of evidence than today's records. I will let you know what I find out when they come in. If you don't care, could you send me copies of Garret and Million's wills also. My address is Gerry Leach, 811 Bolinger Rd., Speedwell, Tn., 37870. I'm in the same boat as you on my scanner. Hopefully, I will be sending you some copies of sources later on. Thanks Gerry p.s. I really like your website. I'm glad to see your records of Nancy Freels who married Preston Human. I have always believed Isaac to be her father, but could not get any documentation on it. ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda Hallman <dixierose@alltel.net> To: <TNMORGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 15, 2003 5:57 PM Subject: Re: [TNMORGAN] Hendix > Hey Cathy, > > Garrett's will was listed in the Knox Co., Tn. 3. Hello to All, It seems like the Halls, Webbs, Scott and Webbs all got around the county pretty good, not to have a car. Darby Hendrix married Elizabeth Hall in Wilkes Co. NC. Darby is also named in Million Webb Hall's Will. Who was Darby's parents? Rachel Hendix married Mitchel Childress in Knox Co., Tn. Garrett Hendix is listed in the Tenn. Cousins Book, but a wife is not listed. I have heard before his wife's name was Mary. But NO DOCUMENTATION. For a long time I believed Chloe and Letitia father was Garrett, but as time has moved on, NO DOCUMENTATIONS! I have seen the name Morgan Hendrix, but no Moses. Guess it wouldn't hurt to check out all of Garrett's children listed in his will. Sometimes you can find proof by another brother or sister. I would like to get one leg over this brick wall before I get to much older. The death date on Chloe Hendix, I had 1848. I gave the wrong source. It wasn't the 1973 Morgan Co News, but now I'm not sure where I found this date. My files aren't in the best order. Thanks for all ya'll help. I'll keep digging. 3. Hi Linda, Here's what I have found so far through LDS Family Search. I have two sources showing Chloe and Letitia's parents as Garret and Rachel Hendrix. Both show Chloe married to Martin Daniel Hall and Letitia married to Samuel Hall. The sources are Terry Morris, 871 S. Alpine Highway Alpin, Utah 84004 and Angel Michelle Graybeal, 1038 Old Hwy 57, Butler, Tn. 37640. I don't know exactly when this was submitted, but a postage stamp wouldn't hurt to try to contact them. I also found another submission showing Chloe's parents as Morgan and Elizabeth Hendrix; Morgan the son of Moses Hendrix. The first two sources do list the birthplace of Chloe and Letitia as Stoney Fork Creek, Wilkes, N. C. I can order a disc which should give the source information, but it will probably be after Christmas before I get it. I have seen the Morgan Hendix before, but can't recollect where. I'll have to dig a little deeper. I guess that throws a monkey wrench into everything, but my bet is on Garret and Rachel. I will keep looking further. I haven't been working on this line in quite a while, so I will have to get the cobwebs swept away. I'm not sure where Butler, Tennessee is, but you might even be able to try a phone directory for that one. It would be great to find someone else who is working on this line. It never hurts to try. I tried a lady on my Taylor line who was listed as a source back in the early 80's I wrote to the address and she wrote me back and sent me a picture of my grandfather and grandmother D.H. and Cora Taylor in a Melton Hill School picture. It turned out that my grandfather had taught her mother in school in Morgan County. They were living in St. Louis when I contacted them, so you never know what you may find until you check it out. All I could come up with on Darby was that he was born before 1766 in N. C. and married Elizabeth Hall about 1781 in North Carolina. There was no source information on this information. I'll let you know when I get the disc with the source information. Say, do you have any idea where Melton Hill School would have been? I'm thinking Lone Mountain, but I'm not sure. 3. <<< just added his name to the census???>>> Milly It's possible! I found my gr-ma listed with gr-pa in same house in 1920, but poor ole gr-ma wasn't anywhere near. She was many miles away "confined" in an institution. Found her also listed in her place of "confinement" in 1920. (now know where my "mental condition" came from!)<VVBG>> Wonder why they listed their rellies that way when they weren't really in the household?? By 1920, gr-pa already had another "wife" and was purchasing a home with her. Have documents to prove that one! Often wonder if a man could divorce his wife under those conditons. She was declared "insane" after losing a 2 year old daughter and then giving birth 3 months later to a son. Sounds like post-partum to me, but back then, they didn't know what that was... 3. Hi all, Remember the census reflected the information to a specific date not the date when the information was recorded. Thus in 1920 the official date of the census was 1 Jan 1920, not 27 Jan. Thus you might actually find someone who had died in the interim listed on the census. Of course, not everyone, including the enumerators, understood the finer points of collecting the information. Thus my gr-great aunt who died the day before they enumerated was not actually included, but a friend's dead grandfather was even though he died 2 Jan. HTH!
