Hi Everybody I'm hoping that someone on the list, who lives in or near Morgan County, can help me out with figuring out exactly (or even approximately) where my 3rd great grandfather, Jeremiah Hurst, lived in the county. If someone has located where any of his "neighbors" lived, I might just luck out. On the 1830 census, his "next door neighbors" were listed as William Guffie and Sarah Brown. Next to them were John Young and Joseph Hatfield. The next two heads of household, on either side, were Elijah Buck and John Hood. I know the census enumerators didn't always get everyone in order, but they might have. His first land purchase in Morgan County was on 10 Oct 1822, when he bought ten acres on "East Fork of Clear Fork of Cumberland", from Linsey Brown (Sarah's deceased husband?) for $100.00. I would guess that's where he was living in 1830, but am not certain. I don't know if Jeremiah moved between 1830 and 1840, or if some "new folks" moved in, but he does have some different neighbors. On one side is William Cook, William Guffie (again) and Albert Hurt and on the other is Walter Davis, Solomon Smith and John Smith. By 1850, he may have moved, because none of the "neighbors" are the same. On one side is Pleasant McCart, D. H. Williams and Calvin Daniel and on the other is Nathan Hawn/Haun, Mary Melton and Ancel? Green. If anyone knows where any of these "neighbors" lived, in those time frames, and can tell me, based on current street or road names, I'll look them up on Mapquest. I couldn't make heads or tails of Jeremiah's deeds & sueveys, for grants, which I do have, but I could post or send the details of them, if anyone feels that would help. Thanks in advance for any help provided. Ernie Hurst

I am getting some mail from Rootsweb.I have written to postmaster@aol.com with no response. I have had a LIVE AOL Tech online. The first one was really dumb. The second one thought maybe it was how I had my Spam Folder set up..I told him no it was all AOLers having problems......You can call and complain....The AOL Postmaster department can be reached by phone at: +1.888.212.5537. This number is live 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Maybe if EVERY AOLer on ALL the lists call ......maybe they will fix. Rootsweb says it's AOL and of course AOL says its Roots web...Go figure.......Check here for the latest on the problem http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ It will be the part in yellow Milly WARD Piros My Mind Is Like Lightning. The Scott Co, TN website was updated tonight. While it may appear that not much new information was added, the biggest changes are happening under the covers. I've completely redesigned the Family Reunion and Guestbook pages. The guestbook really needed redesign because it was so fragile and constantly breaking. The Family Reunion page now displays your reunion information more clearly and I've made it easier for you to add your own reunion information. Expect to see more significant changes over the next few months as I migrate the website to rely on databases to present the information. You will find this particularly useful as I merge the cemetery, death, and marriage records into a single database. You will be able to conduct searches and only display those names and their information that you are interested in seeing. This should make the site much faster and significantly lessen the download times, especially for those with slow modem connections. This will take me some time to accomplish the redesign and migrate existing data to the new format. As you work with the website, please let me know when you find broken links so I can fix them. I fixed many tonight but there are always others as other websites that I link to go out of business, change their structures, or change their providers. Below is a summary of updates made tonight. ...tim west...
