Hi all, "The Stonecipher Tree" by Mary Howe UNDERWOOD mentions a family bible record including HALLs, which also included a DOB for John DUNCAN (6 Mar 1783) who had married Elizabeth STONECIPHER (dau of Ezra and Susannah CURTIS). In my own research, I found that John DUNCAN died in Aug 1840 (source: Civil War "mother's" pension file for Elizabeth STONECIPHER DUNCAN filed for her son, Ezra DUNCAN). From the Underwood book, pp. 32-33: "These names were copied from a bible at the home of Mrs. John Fred Stewart which had a record of the Hall family. Elizabeth must have been a second wife . . . . . . John Duncan probably married a Hall girl first." (Lee Cross notes) This book was published 1984 and had included in the research some notes from Lee CROSS - the bible record mentioned was apparently from Lee CROSS' notes. Does anyone know of this bible and it's current location? If not, does anyone know if Mr. Cross' original notes are located at the Wartburg library? And if so - where are they located - in the vertical files? Somewhere else? Is anyone else researching John DUNCAN and Elizabeth STONECIPHER? If so - do you know which HALL John married first? TIA! Georgeanne

During his 37 years tenure at Y-12, he rose to Senior Staff Engineer and Deputy Manager of the Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) Dept. Over the years, he gained many friends in the nuclear criticality safety community, both locally and nationally. He was highly regarded and respected by his peers. Mr. Handley would frequently recount stories to younger engineers about the 'old days' in Oak Ridge. As a young engineer himself in the mid-1960's, he regarded Dr. E. He 'grew up' in the nuclear field with Messieurs Howard Dyer, Calvin Hopper and Richard Taylor, all of whom he regarded as friends and well respected colleagues. He was especially proud of the accomplishments of Ms. Susan Turner and took great delight in watching the professional maturity and achievements of Mr. Allan Krass (ORNL). He always provided thoughtful and helpful insight into nuclear criticality safety issues, both to beginning and senior level engineers. In recent years, he and his good friend, Dr. Kenneth Lewis, often held many fruitful discussions about nuclear projects of major impact to Y-12 and to the nation. His chief concern was always the safety of fissile material workers and operations and he invariably staunchly defended this position through out his career. He was a great asset to the Y-12 National Security Complex and to the Nuclear Criticality Safety community as a whole and will be greatly missed. Hi all, In looking at the 1900 census in Morgan Co., TN page 94; I find John L. McNEAL age 49, his wife Martha A. age 34, and their 4 children, as well as Stella, who appears to be a daughter of John's from a previous marriage. They are the family above Ole ERICKSON and his wife Mary (nee McPETERS) and their children. In the Morgan Co., TN marriages I find a marriage for John L. McNEAL and Martha McPETERS on 1 Oct 1892. Yet in looking at Morgan Co., TN Cemeteries II, I see that Martha is listed as the daughter of Lindsay & Anna HATFIELD JACKSON. Lindsay and Anna are also on this census page, 2 families above the McNEALs. So - was Martha actually a JACKSON who married initially to a McPETERS? And if so - who was it? I had thought she was the daughter of John McPETERS and Ailcy DUNCAN - but that Martha McPETERS was born in about 1873. Any information would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much, Georgeanne
