    3. I've added 288 obituaries to the website and 6 more pictures of people -- no where near as many I had hoped for but work keeps getting in the way. I still haven't completed the cemetery pictures (and headstones) portion of the new database, _BUT_, I do plan to complete it in July. Why July? I am retiring from work the end of June. I will have July and August to myself and plan on completing the cemetery code then and hope to have loaded the majority of the cemetery and headstone pictures (over 3200 pictures between the ones I've taken the ones you guys have donated) by the end of the summer. That is not really true, as I will have more than 3200 headstone pictures because I'm going to Scott Co next week and plan on taking a ton of headstone pictures (several hundred). My thanks to all the people who have sent me obituaries, cemetery listings, and pictures. ...tim west... Scott Co, TN Coordinator for the TNGenWeb Project http://www.tngenweb.org/scott P.S. 2. I can assure you that the Stonecipher's that were in North Carolina were German. Prior to living in Wilkes County, they were in Rowan County and before that were part of the 3rd Germanna group in Culpepper and Madison County, Virginia. Eleanor Ellen Stonecipher was the daughter of Samuel Stinecipher and Phoebe Curtis; Samuel being the son of Revolutionary War soldier Joseph Marion Stonecipher. Joseph's documented ancestry goes back to a Johann Steinseiffer b. abt. 1580 in Oberschelden, Germany. I have several history's of the Stonecipher's and have researched them for years yet I have never seen a Stonecipher listed as being of English descent. Perhaps they just lived in England? 3. Actually, since Wilkes County is quite close to Tennessee, there are bunches of NC families that migrated. My HAMBYs and CROSSes did, and I suspect that some that are just designated "North Carolina" in my notes may have, also. My HOLTs are listed from Surry County, part of which became Wilkes County in 1777. I have seen the name STONECIPHER in English genealogy, too. Might be worth checking out, especially if you have the name of the English - American connection.
