    3. This may be of some assistance to the persons looking for Trotter information. There is a book entitled "Trotter Genealogy: the Virginia-Tennessee-Mississippi Trotter Line 1725-1948," compiled and edited by Mrs. Isham Patten Trotter, Jr., printed by Mayes Printing Company, Inc., Louisville, KY, 1948. An original copy is in the Library of the University of Kentucky. A photo copy is in the vertical file of the Clarksville-Montgomery County (Tennessee) Library. Because of some distant relatives, I copied a few pages from this book. The pages I have show that the first generation is James Trotter, Sr., who married Ann in 1743 in Brunswick County, Virginia. Their children were Isham, George, William, Robert, James and Mary. Apparently two or more generations of Trotters lived in Brunswick County. Isham Trotter, Jr. and Elizabeth Whitehead, his wife, moved to Montgomery County, TN, with the Dukes and Reads who are not further identified in the information I copied. No date given for the move but it must have been in the very early 1800s. They settled near Hustburg. I think I've been told that Hustburg is now in Humphries County, TN, but have not checked it. The pages I have do not mention a Frances, daughter of Rev. James Trotter, or a James Trotter who married Tabitha but that does not mean that they are not in the book. Also, Goodspeed's "History of Tennessee" (c. 1886), page 1276, has biographical sketches of Mitchel Trotter, son of Isham and Elizabeth Whitehead Trotter and Benjamin Trotter, son of Richard and Rebecca Moore Trotter. Both were living in Humphreys County. James Trotter, one of early Va. Methodist preachers. However, I have nothing else about her DOB/DOD. I also have her as md. to John Harris October 1787 in Amelia Co., Virginia. Juanita Johnson, juanita@sierratel.com is a descendant of James and Tabitha Trotter and perhaps she might be able to help you further with this particular line. I also have Mary Jane Walton who was md. to Benjamin Rook, son of Martin E. Rook. According to their marriage date (December 19, 1837) I would estimate her DOB to be about 1807 or so. There was also Anne Phillips Groves who was married to Thomas Hatton Batson, Jr. Perhaps some of these names will give you a lead. The information I have about these Trotters is limited. I can help you with some of the Trotters if you find any other leads. Please feel free to contact me and I will see what I have. On the document her daughter names Henrietta's mother as Frankie Trotter. I have had her as Frances (?) born VA circa 1802 from the 1850 Dickson Co, TN census listed with her husband Isaac Groves and Henrietta as their child. This is the first documenttation that I have had of her as a Trotter.
