    3. Dear List Members: There is no formal standard or guideline for this list. It is up to the List Owner to set these standards. I have written to Laura concerning her posting and explained that we only advertise for non-profits or governmental agencies. I do not want to open up our list to be deluged with advertisements. The only control I have over postings is to monitor each message. I will do this if it becomes necessary. It will slow down receiving emails to the list but there is give and take in everything. This list has been in operation for 4 years now. We have approximately 150 subscribers who are interested in Montgomery County- its people and its history. Let us keep our focus on this and continue to post our wonderful stories and queries concerning our county. That said, there are some products of immense value to me, and I personally think that those in question here are among those (I'm probably going to order some in the near future). While I wouldn't be thrilled about a bunch of postings advertising more general products, those products that are specific to the area discussed in our list are a little different (to me, at least). If I hadn't seen that email, I wouldn't have known those products were available. It's a difficult problem. "SPAM" ads are definitely not welcome, however, occasional specific, content-targeted pointers to products aren't evil. _\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_ | Roger L.
