Co. records: Montgomery County Deed Book A, page 236, 11 Sep 1792: James Campbell of Cumberland Co., NC to Philemon Hodges, 2395 acres patented 20 Oct 1784, on both sides of West Fork of Red River Montgomery County Deed Book D&H, page 220, 15 Sep 1785: State of NC to Dempsey Campbell, private; 640 acres between Blooming Grove and Cross Creeks; deed registered 27 Jul 1807 Montgomery County Deed Book K, page 237, 7 Aug 1821: Needham Whitfield to Hugh Campbell, 333 1/3 acres for $1111.10 on N. side of Little West Fork, adjacent lands of Manoah Bostick, Lowther; test: P. H.
