I just learned my g-g-grandfather was George William Scroggins,b.between 1790-1810,N.C. Married a Sarah Underwood,b.abt.1806-1810 Caswell Co.N.C. They were married on May,5th,1827 Davidson co.Tn. In the 1850 census for Montgomery Co.Tn. his son Samuel Scroggins was listed as 17, living with his mother,Sarah, and stepfather Richard Chambers. Sarah's will states they had 3 sons. James Scroggins,b.abt.1829,George Washington Scroggins,b.abt 1830,and Samuel Scroggins b.abt. 1831. Her husband George William had died abt. 1831.(don't know where) In the 1860 census for Montgomery Co.Tn. it list George Washington Scroggins ,wife Elizabeth(Carpenter) and 2 daughters living with the Benjamin Tyree family.Samuel was living alone. In the 1870 census George Washington had moved to Graves Co.Ky.(Western Ky) Somewhere between 1860 and 1870 George had dropped the"R" in Scroggins. Now it was Scoggins. Does any one have any info on this George William Scroggins or Sarah Underwood? Any help will be appreciated as I am against a brick wall and can't find a way through it.
