    3. As silly as it sounds I could just about sit down and cry right now. After so many years of looking ... in the wrong direction it turns out ... I have finally found out who my great great great grandparents are. My great great grandmother was a woman named Mary Harris and she was married three times, the first two were a short duration although there were children from these two marriages. Add to that, she was raised by her step father ... William Thomas Parker ... whose surname she sometimes used, and all the surnames became very confusing. Her mother, I finally found, in the 1870 census of Stewart County was a woman named Margaret ... which went along with family lore. Margaret Harris was a widow in 1870 with a 3 year old daughter ... my great great grandmother. She married in 1872 to W.T. Parker ... but I never could find out which of the Harris men she was married to first. After finally tracking down a descendant from Margaret's second marriage who, by the Grace of God, had salvaged W.T. Parker's family Bible, I learned that Margaret's maiden name was Thacker. Well, today I found a marriage of a Wiley Harris to a Margaret Thacker on 20 Aug 1865 in Montgomery County, TN. If you have read this far, I appreciate your time. Does anyone by any chance know the ancestors for this Wiley Harris. Thanks! 3. > Well, today I found a marriage of a Wiley Harris to a Margaret Thacker on > 20 Aug 1865 in Montgomery County, TN. One of the Thacker fams in Montgomery Co in 1850 is that of Richard B. Thacker, 46, b. VA, Farmer, with $8,600 in Real Estate, enumerated adjacent to William A. Quarles, 26, b. VA, Lawyer, with $6,400 in Real Estate. Quarles was a well known Clarksville lawyer both before and after the war, in which he became a Brigadier General. Richard B. Thacker might have been a widower, as the next listing in the family is that of Nancy Thacker, b. TN, age 27 (young enuff to be his daughter?). There's also a Mary M., 12; and an Ann M., 2; either of which MIGHT be your "Margaret"? What is her birth year, if U know? Enumerated adjacent to Richard is Milton Thacker, 40, b. VA with family, and next to him is David Thacker, 27, with family (but no "M" daughters!). Next is Joseph Fauntleroy, with $14, 340 in Real Estate, and nearby is James Manson, 46, with $11, 466 in Real Estate; all born in VA. These folks lived North of Clarksville, probably near Bethel Methodist Church, largely near, or on, what is now Ft. Campbell, KY (on the TN side). Stewart County is not very far away to the West, and KY is not a mile away, so you might need to check Christian or Todd Co., Ky records, too. There are a number of Harris fams, of course, in both Stewart and Montgomery in 1850; but a quick perusual did not reveal a Wiley; need to check more closely, and then check the 1860, for sure (and maybe KY). Hope this helps! Cleo in Clarksville
