    2. I found this website with very interesting information on Mary Elizabeth Walker. It does mention that she worked at an Orphan's asylum, but does not mention where it was. I am sure that she might be mentioned in the "Picturesque Clarksville" book and I will check it for you. The website also gives the reason that the medal award was revoked. My g-g-grandmother, Elizabeth Beltzhoover Cox Norris, was a nurse at Ft. Donelson and worked in the front lines helping the wounded and sick. She was quite a unique person and has a colorful and interesting history. She had a long and "flowery" obituary in the Clarksville newpaper when she died, but this may have been attributed to the fact that the newspaper was owned by the Stackers who were relatives.
