Bette, I missed out on part of this "conversation" about the Tates, but I checked my "Index to Early TN Wills & Administrations, 1779-1861" and found two Tate listings in Dickson Co., next door to Montgomery: Dickson Co. TN Anderson Tate, 1856, AS (means Administrator's Settlements) Book C, page 460 Samuel Tate, 1834, AS Book A, page 249 Now for Montgomery Co. there are two Tatom listings, if you think the name might have been changed or misspelled: Montgomery Co. John Tatom, 1831, Record Book F, page 311 John M. Tatom, 1831, Record Book F, page 258. Dickson Co. James Tatom, 1850, AS Book C, page 78 Don't know if this is of any use, but could be a lead. Deanna
