Shirley, Dana, and anyone else that is looking for the Cherokee Applications--- The Index to the Guion Miller Rolls are on line and it seems that I saw the index for the Dawes Roll (but I don't remember where I saw that one off-hand!). Try the National Archives (NAIL) at http://www.gov/nara/searchnail.html For the keyword, type in Guion Miller then, "Display Results" The search should find 3 items---the 2nd is the index to the Guion Miller rolls. When I went through the "J" sections looking for "Sarah Leann Johnson", I didn't find her----she is listed as "Sally Ann Johnson" because her uncle/guardian didn't know her name! When I looked through the Johnson name, I found her brothers. Then, I started searching the Bowman name---her mother's name. That's where it really got interesting! Seems that many of the Bowmans filed applications claiming descent through Polly Hooker Rich. Now, I'm searching the Rich name! (This is so much fun!!!!) Good luck with your research! Sandy Ellis
