    2. Hey Katharan I have someone. There are two children James Elbert and Mary Lou Mathis. Could be spelled a variety of ways of course. They went by Elbert and Lou but the census may have anything. So if you would, could you look them up in the 1880 census? They might be in TN or MO or anyplace else. :) thank you William

The Sistler book for the 1850 census listed place of birth for first two listed in the family, ie. JN and Sarah. If you look at the actual census it will give birthplaces for all. Or at least it should. :) The Sistler's did not do this birthplace thing in 1860. Nor in 1870 but then again all they had were heads of household listed for 1870. William

I have Dickson Co, TN but don't have source documented. William

    1. [TNMONTGO-L] Chart for date of births
    2. Sandra Stacey
    3. Hi all, Here is a chart for instantly locating the dates of births. Handy to take to the archive and library. Saves doing the math in the head. http://jerry.vigo.lib.in.us/washington/CENDATES.HTM

    2. William, Thanks but death certificates had not been invented in 1833. I have never found them to be very reliable anyway.......like tombstones... I read a record last night from `Coffin Book of Thomas Farley' in Montgomery-TN (must have been the undertaker....I wonder where that word came from?)...... On 13 Mar 1875 he charged a man (name withheld for reasons of my own) $25.00 for a coffin for his wife. This wife died in 1877.....according to her tombstone. Maybe the coffins were on sale that day or maybe Thomas Farley `cooked the books'. jerree
