Thanks Cleo. And I presume that the Smiths were probably not buried in that cemetery. They were originally from the Jordan Springs area and were not part of the families you listed. They died in 1965 and 1968. I will look elsewhere. Ida
Ida, it was cataloged in 1967: Darnell, Jones, Alley & HOGAN, Cem. Recs. Montg. Co., TN, Vol 1 (Clarksville, TN: privately printed, 1968) OUT OF PRINT, p. 54, contains the listing I made in 1967: Hollis, Daniel, Nolen, and some Alley's and Hollis' without inscribed stones: 7 inscribed stones, and 7 other known burials. I'm interested in knowing who is buried in the John Nolen Cemetery which is located on Langford Road--just off Hwy 41A South. It is a small cemetery surrounded by a fence in the middle of a field (or it was a field when I was last in Mont. Co). Don't know who owns the property now--it belonged to the Smith family back before the 70s. Anyone know about this cemetery? It is listed on the cemetery page of the Mont. TN genweb, but has not been cataloged. IDA DEAL
Is anyone else having trouble getting the Leaf Chronicle web site to come up? I read the obits every day and haven't been able to for the last week. Debbie in IN

----- Original Message ----- From: Judy To: FRANO-COLA.SC@worldnet.att.net Sent: Monday, September 30, 2002 12:08 AM Please, I am trying to find out some information about Henry G. Marklin, who was the grandfather of my grandmother. He married Rebecca J. Tomlinson May 24, 1866. Their daughter Mary Ellen Marklin married Joseph Crusman Davis, son of Andrew & Mary Jane Causey Davis. I know the Davis family lived in Montgomery family and I believe are buried at the Lone Oak Cemetery. However, I was unable to access that cemetery. Any information about Henry G. Marklin would be appreciated as my mother had always been told he came from Scotland and I am trying to confirm this. Thank you, Judith (Potts) VanDewater Hot Springs, South Dakota

Does anyone have an index for the 1860 Montgomery County census? I'm looking for Alexander Jones and family. Karen

Can someone do a marriage look up for me? It would be for James T. Moore and Zilpha (Jones)? Best I can figure out they would've married around 1864 but I'm not sure they married in Montgomery County. I sure would appreciate any help. Karen

The web site below is looking for pictures of Montgomery County Civil War burials. If you have any info to share you might want to check it out. This is not my line of research, atleast not currently, but I thought I'd mention that while going through census information in Lowndes County, MS, I found a lot of Ellis folks. I think one of my Nickels or Kidd's might have married an Ellis, but I'm not ready to pursue that just yet. Hope this info helps someone. Jenny in Texas
I thought I'd pass this along to all you Ellis researchers---just in case. Ellis (ELLISFAM@worldnet.att.net) was wondering if you have any information that could help him find who his grandfather's parents, place of birth, etc. was? Information about his ancestor's past is rather schetchy, and they never talked about any of his relatives. This ancestor died probably a little over 15 years ago, and his paternal grandmother (his second wife, and now in a nursing home) cannot remember very much about his family. His name was J.F. Ellis (Joe Frank Ellis), and he had to have been born somewhere around or before the turn of the century. According to my grandmother, he was originally from around Marshall Co. Mississippi, and may have lived or be connected with some of the Ellis family in Missouri. He eventually wound up in a small Mississippi town (Crowder MS.) where this researcher's father and uncles were raised. Any information would be helpful. Please contact Dennis K. Ellis, Memphis, TN, ellisfam@worldnet.att.net
