Montgomery-TN records of circa 1820, on the web are like `hen's teeth'. jerree PS..There is an agreement in Will Bk D:359 between James Williams & Joseph Woodson dated 2 Mar 1824 but too early unless it is your James Williams father!!??
Elaine Suhre, Click on the address that I've written below and when the page comes up, click on Inquire Form. order how many you want. The forms are for ordering searches on records for those that served in the service. http://www.archives.gov/global_pages/submit_form.html They sent over 55 pages of info a one of my great grandfather's that had served in the Mexican war. They also sent info on a family member that served in the war of 1812 but didn't draw a pension, but he did receive warranty grants for land the family moved to. You can get a great deal of info from them. Just play around with the links on the site and good luck! There was an illiterate lady named Sarah Ogburn who wrote her will on 9 Jun 1823 in Mongomery-TN. It was produced in court by January term of 1824 so she was dead by then. She lists her children as: 1..Edmund HARRISON to receive $5.00 2..William HARRISON to receive $5.00 3..Henry HARRISON to receive $5.00 4..Nancy Moore to receive $5.00 5..Elizabeth Simmons to receive $5.00 6..James HARRISON to receive $5.00 7..Benjamin HARRISON, sole executor, to receive after paying legacies/sums of money and just debts, the balance of my estate if living, if not, to his heirs. Is this Benjamin `S' HARRISON???? I though his parents were John HARRISON & Lucy Goodrich Tilman...... Who are these people???? Where are they from??? Rockingham-VA?? Brunswick-VA??? jerree
For some reason the link will not work when I post it on the mail list. So I directly e-mailed Charmaine the link to NARA and it worked fine. There must be a glitch on the mail list for it not to work. Dear Sandra et al I recently rejoined this List after an absence of a year or two. It's nice to be back among you! I have a couple questions: Which school years are included in the books on the schools of Montgomery Co, TN. Are there pictures of classes and are the books indexed? Shortly before I signed off a year or so ago, there had been a great genealogical find in someone' shed but at the time it was said it would take awhile to sort everything out. I would love to know what was found and if there is any way to peruse this information on the 'Net or is it Archived on this List? My Montgomery Co lines are as follows: SINKS, BAGGETT, REDMOND. Morrisett, Lewis, Jenkins, Jenkins, Underwood, KENT, BRUNSON. I have the feeling that in the 1800's my Sinks and /or Baggetts were related to over half the town! Thanks for any leads! It has been years since I have been there. If I remember correctly, the cottages are behind the main house. -----Original Message----- From: Karen Beasley [mailto:jbeasl16@bellsouth.net] Sent: Wednesday, December 04, 2002 11:05 PM To: TNMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNMONTGO-L] Hachland Hills Carolyn, Did you by any chance see the log houses on the grounds? The B&B is lovely and imaginative, as is everything at Hachland. Karen: I haven't visited Phila's B&B but do cook with many of her recipes - she is wonderful. Colleen Taylor
Been to a couple of receptions there recently, and toured it thirty years ago. It is very professionally run, and the meals are to be remembered. Phila Shadow Hach, who runs/owns it, has a LONG history of catering work, beginning, I think, with stewardess work before there were jets! I have no connection with her place, but it is considered, I think, one of the better places to have a reception in town. Can't speak to the B&B aspect, as I haven't needed to use it, nor do I know anyone who has. It is not an economy place, but a quality place! Hope that helps. Cleo.
