It has been a while since I have posted this. Looking for any connection to the Green(e) family living on Indian Creek or around Marion in Montgomery Co. as well as the Marlow family. Great great grandparents were James M. Greene (born about 1835) and Louisa Marlowe Greene born 1838. Louisa was daughter of David Marlowe of Camden Co., MO (Marlowes later relocated to Montgomery Co.). Both supposed to be buried in Abernathy Cemetery in Marion but graves not located. James and Louisa returned to Indian Creek sometime before mid 1800's from Indian Territory in Oklahoma according to dau-in-law. Children were: Robert, Evelyn, Viola, Martha Ellen (born 1868; married Robert Leonard Bailey; both buried in Marion Cemetery), James Thomas (born 1871; married Laura Metcalf; he is buried in Marion Cemetery), Nancy C. (born about 1857) and Laura (born abt. 1858). Probable Cherokee roots with Greenes and Marlowes. ANY census records, marriage or death records, etc. would be much appreciated. jan

Carroll, sounds like the Stewart Co., Heflins. Have you sorted out the Montgomery Co ones? Cleo.

Looking for anyone who came before or after this man.............. David HARRISON b..16 Mar 1774 VA {what county??} d..17 Jun 1821 Clarksville-Montgomery-TN bur..Roberts Cem-Montgomery-TN m.. Mary Unknown b..1775><1794 {not a clue} d.. {somebody born 1775 d 28 Sep 1838 Montgomery-TN is buried in HARRISON Cem #1 (on south side of river in District 16 on Glenn Weakley's farm. There are 3-4 stones and a baby's grave)........is this her???? Their children may be: 1..Joseph HARRISON b..1798 TN m..Susan Staley 2..Cary HARRISON b..1802><1804 3..Female HARRISON b..1804><1810 4..Female HARRISON b..1804><1810 5..James D HARRISON b..1809 TN 6..Female HARRISON b..1810><1815 David is listed in the 1820 Montgomery-TN Census with the above family. In 1821 at his death he owned 29 slaves NOT MENTIONED in the census, unless it was an abstraction not done well. In 1824, Cary HARRISON must have reached 21 because he `drew out' three slaves plus $72.00, `his share of the estate'. David's will named only Mary by name.....and ordered his executor to purchase $2000 worth of land `in the neighborhood of Clarksville' for his wife and family. He also ordered that his children be well educated. He owned shares in the Bank of Clarksville and held notes on MANY local people. In 1830 Montgomery-TN Census, there is a Mrs Mary HARRISON listed as HOH. 00002001-10011001 Who is that strange man in her household age 50-60??? An overseer would not be listed in the same household would he??? Twenty years later in 1850, the MARY HARRISON listed as HOH is my relative.... Are they all connected??? How would I find out who owned Glenn Weakley's farm in the 1820's???? Anybody have any clues where to look next? jerree
Hello, I'm looking for ANY INFO on my great-grandmother and her family. Her name was Grace Stacey, she was born 11-23-1903 in Clarksville, Montgomery Co., TN. She died 1973 Davidson Co., TN. I really had no reason to think that this may be Lem, just a spur of the moment idea. thank you William

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I'm hoping to find someone with information on Lewis Morrison and Eliza Rose who lived in Montgomery County, TN. They were married April 6, 1865 in Montgomery County. Their children were Mary Elizabeth, b. Sep 7, 1866, m. Sam W. Pierce; Josiah b.1868, Emiline b. 1874; and Phebe b. 1877. --Hi Sandy, I have a two volume book on Montgomery County's schools in the library and archives now. I am working on a printable version for the library. I bound the ones I donated. I am giving the library permission to sell the book with all profits going to the Genealogy Section. How's Geneva's Book coming? Are you like me, too many other pots in the fire? I need to work more on the Gannaway Database. We lost a treasure when Richard Gannaway died. I used some of the database yesterday to look up some articles on schools. His notebooks are fascinating. If you decide the notebook is too much trouble you can return it with no feelings hurt. As a Genealogist, I know how hard it is to do just one thing. Sandra
If somebody has a History of the County would they please look and see who or what was `Locket and Smith' in 1819. Maybe a store that carried everything from baling wire to plugs of tobacco???? I found an `Inventory of Accounts Due on the Books' in Oct of 1819 and it looks like everyone in the county owed them money {even the rich people}. I found an Estate sale for a Moses Locket in 1818, maybe he was part owner. Also sez 1/4 of the total of these account goes to a Levi Smith. jerree
Good to hear from you Sandy! We had beautiful sun shine and blue skies this morning.... I opened up all the doors and windows to let in some REAL air........ Now it is dark and raining again.........can't complain we only get rain in the winter {not a drop all summer long}. I have two roses in my front that have been trying to bloom for a week but so far no luck..... Wild turkey's would be a treat....my `Man Du' {dog} would have a fit.......in my yard all I get are mourning doves, sparrows, California jays and one spoil rotten squirrel. `Man Du' would kill a cat if it came in the yard and every body on the block has cats except me. We did have a passing raccoon last week but `Man Du' slept through it. Glad to know somebody is alive and well back there..... jerree
Hi Jerree-- Yes, there are a few of us here in Montgomery County! We've had a 'nice' day---we actually saw the sun and may even get to see it again tomorrow before the clouds/rain sets back in for another week. (Maybe people are enjoying the holidays, warmer temperatures, and sunshine--with their friends and families. I'm sitting here enjoying the scene from my deck---trees silhouetted by the sunset and wild turkeys roosting in those trees.) There are still Morgans, Harrisons, and Jacksons living in Montgomery County. Unfortunately, I have put my books and CDs away---had to make room for the holiday 'stuff' and wanted to protect them from little kids! Sandy Ellis
23 Jun 1806 {where ever court was held} Montgomery-TN Court Minutes .....`Isaac Morgan is allowed tavern license to keep in his house he now lives in at Palmyra, with ADAM HARRISON and Brice Jackson, his securities, bound in the sum of five hundred dollars'..... I have a 3g uncle born in the same county {unknown town}, 17 years later named Adam Morgan HARRISON... Any Morgans, HARRISONs or Jacksons, out there in Montgomery-TN??? Is anybody out there in Montgomery-TN???? jerree
Hi Does anyone recognize this person? J. W. Carpenter born April 20, 1853 & died Feb.2, 1879 This person buried in the Dudley Cemetery in District #6 in the vicinity of St. Bethlehem, Montgomery Co., TN. Barbara
Solomon Alston Kittrell (may have been a physician) died in Clarksville-Montgomey-TN at age about 36. He married Mary Ann `Nancy' Brodie in 1805 probably in Granville-NC. She was the d/o: John Brodie MD (III) (b 1753 Scotland) & Mary Taylor {executor of Solomon Kittrell's will} s/o John Brodie MD (II) (b 1733 Scotland) & Elizabeth Unknown s/o John Brodie (I) (c1700 Scotland) & Martha Sclater. Are there ANY Brodie's in Montgomery-TN???? buried with a DAR rock???? This family is `riddled' with physicians........ DAR identifies John (III) as a Patriot in error (what else is new?) and he should be John (II) who was a physician/surgeon in Hampton & Newport News-Isle of Wight-VA during the Rev War. Still don't know the HARRISON that married into these clans......... jerree
