    1. [TNMONTGO-L] Charlotte Stamper
    2. Does anyone have any knowledge/connection with Charlotte Stamper. A marriage license was taken on July or August 17, 1867 in Stewart county for marriage to William Washington Smith, born May 28, 1847; died November 21, 1899. There are no Stamper families that I could find the 1850-1980 Stewart County Census, so am thinking possibly her family was just over the Stewart Co line in Montgomery County. William W. Smith later married Frances Adeline Pryor on April 3, 1871, in Stewart County. Any information/corrections on any one of these three persons would be appreciated. Diann

    3. Hi Folks, Many of you have ancestors who migrated to TX. This is a neat site to read about some of the "historical" sites---and gain a little history insight to the settling of TX. You might find one of your ancestors mentioned here. Jean in TX Texas Historical Sites Atlas http://atlas.thc.state.tx.us/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.thc.state.tx.us/thclibrary/libdefault.html The Texas Historical Commission (THC) library houses a unique collection that makes it a one-of-a-kind facility for agency staff, outside professionals and citizens interested in history, archeology and preservation. The library is open to the public during regular business hours, although the collection is noncirculating. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    3. Hi Linda, Since you live in California, you probably did not know that the older part of Acme was burned. Some school kids set it on fire. There was no saving it. Luckily there was no breeze, so it was contained to the one building. I am not sure if I have put it on the web site yet, but Randy Rubel has a nice picture of the old Acme building and all of the employees. He has been kind enough to loan me some wonderful pictures that are currently being put on the web. Check them out. 3. Hi Brenda, I am Sandra Stacey. If you could bring the pictures by my work, I could scan them. I will need to take them home though. I do all of my work at home. I promise I will return them as soon as they are scanned. I would love to do them. I can also print copies of your pictures for you. I work at the Board of Education on Gracey Avenue and Crossland avenue. It is the old Acme Boot Building right across from the other building that recently burned. I am in Central Records. I work from 7:30 to 4:30 and close from 12:00 to 1:00 Monday-Friday. -----Original Message----- From: Joyce2005@aol.com [mailto:Joyce2005@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2003 7:09 PM To: TNMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNMONTGO-L] About old Clarksville High photos Hi, I have some old Clarksville High Photos but no scanner.I do however live in Clarksville.I beleive Sandra Stacey is the one who collected these and works at the Board of Education is that right?Maybe she could help me get these scanned ? 3 of them are from a class inside CHS during the 40s they are stamped on the back"Finished by Thompson Studio Clarksville,TN" I believe they were made inside the shop classroom(s) They were in my Late Father's photo album of pictures from the 1940s and early 50s. one of the class ,one of the teacher and one with two guys at the blackboard. 2. I agree with this post. If there are books available that would be of interest to Montgomery County researchers, I see no problem posting that information to the site. BUT, I think the responses should be made directly to the person providing the new info. That way the site isn't clogged with back and forth stuff. I have purchased many research books this way. Had someone not mentioned them to the list, I would never have known they existed. So, it's really an easy fix. A mention could be made, but any further correspondence on the subject should be off list. This is a common practice on many list sites and seems to work for the most part. How does that sound? That said, there are some products of immense value to me, and I personally think that those in question here are among those (I'm probably going to order some in the near future). While I wouldn't be thrilled about a bunch of postings advertising more general products, those products that are specific to the area discussed in our list are a little different (to me, at least). If I hadn't seen that email, I wouldn't have known those products were available. It's a difficult problem. "SPAM" ads are definitely not welcome, however, occasional specific, content-targeted pointers to products aren't evil. _\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_ | Roger L. 3. Dear List Members: There is no formal standard or guideline for this list. It is up to the List Owner to set these standards. I have written to Laura concerning her posting and explained that we only advertise for non-profits or governmental agencies. I do not want to open up our list to be deluged with advertisements. The only control I have over postings is to monitor each message. I will do this if it becomes necessary. It will slow down receiving emails to the list but there is give and take in everything. This list has been in operation for 4 years now. We have approximately 150 subscribers who are interested in Montgomery County- its people and its history. Let us keep our focus on this and continue to post our wonderful stories and queries concerning our county. 1. Re: [TNMONTGO-L] Waller & Carr
    2. Barbara Dudley Brown
    3. Cleo, The Waller line you mention is mine. John Waller(1701-1776) and wife Agnes Carr are ancestors of the Thomas Carr Waller in Todd Co. Martha, wife of the Todd Co. T. C. Waller, is descended from Edmund Waller (c1718-1771) a brother to her husband's ancestor. The father of John & Edmund Waller was John Waller died 1754, built Endfield in King William Co., Newport in Spotsylvania Co. and was first county clerk of Spotsylvania Co. VA. I will be happy to share any documentation, but I am just reaching the documentation stage on the Wallers who remained in VA. I have been acquiring info and am now ready to check the said to be's. There does not seem to be much disagreement on my two lines so I don't expect too many surprises. My main obstacle has been documenting Martha's father Aylett. While it does not qualify as primary material, one of the descendants of the Todd County Wallers sent me a transcription of a family record which the family brought with them to Todd Co. in 1832. The transcription begins with a listing of Minor family: "Thomas Minor, son of John and Sarah, was born August 5, 1740 and departed this life February the 15, 1816-Aged 75 years 6 months and 10 days. Mary Dabney, daughter of John and Ann Dabney, was born September the 14, 1742. And was married to Thomas Minor the 10 of March 1763. And departed this life Oct the 31, 1818. Aged 76 years one month and a half. Sarah Carr Minor, daughter of Thomas and Mary, was born December the 28, 1763. She died the 28 September 1782. Aged 19 years. William Minor, son of Thomas & Mary was born April the 19, 1766. And departed this life the 15 of October 1794. Aged 28 years. Elizabeth Minor, daughter of D.D. was born September the 26, 1768 and departed this life January 7, 1832. Age 63 years 4 months & 11 days. John? Minor, son of D.D. was born July the 28, 1771 and departed this life September the 20, 1802. Aged 31 years 1 month and 23 days. Thomas? Minor, son of D.D. was born April the 10, 1774. Mary? Minor, daughter of D. D. was born April the 4, 1778 and departed this life the June 24, 1802. Aged 24 years 2 months and 20 days. Sarah Minor Woolfath, daughter of Joseph & Sarah Carr Woolfath, was born September the 28, 1782. Then the Waller listing begins. The first Waller couple listed is Thomas Waller b 1732-1787) who married Sarah Dabney (1740-1822). Their son Dabney Waller b. 1772 married Elizabeth Minor b. 1768. Let me know if you want the Waller info. For the location of the original, please send me a private email. A more recent Waller & Carr connection: Ashton Sites Waller and Nell Curtis Carr. From info given to me: Ashton Sites Waller born 18 August 1861. He married Nell Curtis Carr on 11 November 1908 in Trenton, Todd County, KY. She was the daughter of James Jonathan Carr, Jr. and Marion Norfleet Carney. She was born 1 May 1885 in Todd County, KY. She died 14 September 1927 in Todd County, KY and was buried in the Trenton, KY cemetery. Ashton Sites Waller d. April 27, 1931.
