I have recently found the transcription of the Death Certificate of my 2nd GGM Henrietta Groves Walton. On the document her daughter names Henrietta's mother as Frankie Trotter. I have had her as Frances (?) born VA circa 1802 from the 1850 Dickson Co, TN census listed with her husband Isaac Groves and Henrietta as their child. This is the first documenttation that I have had of her as a Trotter. They lived in the area where Montgomery/Cheatham/Dickson meet. If anyone can help me connect her to the Trotters in the Montgomery area I would be most appreciative. Looking forward to seeing any of you at the Rock Springs Freewill Church Annual Homecoming on May 25th for the pot luck dinner.
I don't know Ann. I've always thought they'd make a good segment for Tennessee Crossroads. Are there any WICKHAM descendants on the list? What a wonderful website. I have not seen these statues in person, but seem to remember they were featured on tv. Maybe "Tennessee Crossroads" on the PBS station out of Nashville. Am I right? Ann
What a wonderful tribute to a grandfather and his character, strength and determination! Mr. Wickham's cabin and the whole site where the statues are should be preserved from future damage and deterioration. Couldn't someone get interested in doing this? Hello this is my first post to the list. 30 years ago I visited Palmyra with my friend Ramona and her parents Mr. & Mrs. Hadley. We visited a place where there were statues made from concrete. They were painted and there were people and animals. I do have a scan of some of them if anyone is interested. Do any of you know anything about these statues? Who made them? Are they still there? This may not be the proper way to request this, but can I get mail to my address, mic.bailey@worldnet.att.net, put on hold while I'm away on vacation? Now until May 21 would be good. Thanks, Michelle
Hello Jo, I don't know if these Cookseys are related to Lindon Tubb Cooksey, or not. However, I do know that he is a descendant of George Tubb Cooksey and my line of Rooks through Nancy Lyon Good whose mother was Nancy Lyon Rook. That is the reason I copied the file in the library. Hi Gibbs family members Does anyone have a Gibbs married to Katie Marie Sinks? She is a miece of my paternal grandmother, Ella Sinks Redmond. 1. ? Gibbs married Katie Marie Sinks, daughter of Elias Henry "Larse" Sinks and Ada Underwood. She was born April 15, 1894 in Baggetts Chapel, Montgomery, TN, died August 28, 1946. Linda: We are not sure if we were related to him, we saw the Obit in the paper. I bet we were, there are not that many Lockerts most spell it Lockhart. We have traced our family back to 1735 and the Lockhart Shoals ,SC area when they still spelled it Lockhart. During the REV war some of the brothers had a falling out and my ancestor changed his spelling to Lockert and kept it that way. They moved from SC to Clarksville/Robertson County area in late 1790s and lived there. Let me know if I can check something for you in Clarksville I live about 30 miles from there and go there a few times a month. They have a good genealogy department at the library. Faye
Hi Faye, Are you related to Jimmy Lockert of Clarksville who passed away last year in Lebannon,TN? His wife is Louise Kerr Lockert. Louise taught in Clarksville. She is the sister of my uncle by marriage. We are also friends with Lucille Gibbs of Clarksville--she is a widow but her husband started Gibbs Electric.
