Does the book state where they immigrated from?Where they Presbyterians when they immigrated? That's the kinda stuff I'm looking for.If you would be so kind as to look up the info. for me it would be very appreciated. The book also has info on the Mc Nail family as well as Thomas, Roark, Smyth,Laird and Windhorst. In the book it indicates Catherine Lucy as the daughter of James & Sarah (nee Thomas). Catherine Lucy was a twin with John both born in 1792. I will be happy to do lookups with this book for specific information. See my earlier post re John's Presbytery Circuit ministry in KY. John's son James and wife Sarah were on the 1850 Montgomery Co TN. Their son Nathaniel (1800-1865) was also on 1850 Montgomery Co TN census, but in 1857 he sold his farm on McAdoo Creek and with several of his sons moved to Ballard Co., KY. where he later died. His wife Martha Annie Roark also died in Ballard Co., KY. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ginny Sinclair" <ginny.sinclair@verizon.net> To: <TNMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 9:40 PM Subject: [TNMONTGO-L] Hutchinson, Jett, Ramey > Are these Hutchinsons also related to Ramey and to Jett? Are these Hutchinsons also related to Ramey and to Jett? Did they go over to Calloway Co KY and then come back to Montgomery Co in the 1820 - 30 time frame? My ancestor is Elijah Ramey who owned land in Montgomery Co in the very early 1800's. He was married to Margaret "Peggy" Perry of Shenandoah Co VA and I seem to recall some connection to Hutchinson. The Rameys (Elijah, Samuel, and James Madison) owned land on McAdoo's Creek, too. Ginny Sinclair

Andy - thanks. I have Jarrell back to Valentine Quincy's grandparents, Joshua Jarrell and Mary Butt (period of time about 1730--1818 in VA and NC). I'm also looking for ancestors of Marina Turner Adkins (Valentine's Q. wife). I have Thomas Adkins and Nancy unknown as her parents in Montgomery Co., TN about 1800--1880. I think Thomas married second time, but don't know anything about what happened to Nancy --still looking. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anderson" <oxdrover@mindspring.com> To: <TNMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 2:06 PM Subject: [TNMONTGO-L] JOHN HUTCHISON (1740-1825) > Linda: > > You may already have this, as there are several submissions to the > WorldConnect Project on this line, as well as queries at the Roark Gen > Forum. linda , no will but in reading this thingy about the wagontrain there are addresses and names of folks that have info..However I don't know how old this is. I suspect Scotland as that is where most of the presbyterians were kicked out of and they were sent to VA as criminals. Then you add the name HUTCHISON and it is a celtic name most likely as they are either prefaced with MAC or MC or they are someones son as in HUTCH 'as' SON.Then there is the year , they started to kick them out of Scotland abt 1680 and it went on for awhile.Prebyterians weren't to welcome anywhere but especially in Scotland. Today the Church Of Scotland is the head church for prebyterians, talk about irony. I wonder about church records? How to find them and where are they?Any ideas? Linda R linda <Meas4Meas@colint.com> wrote: Linda R - I don't know Hutchison's country of origin. Why do you suspect that they were from Scotland? I'll contact my sister who has the Hutchison Family Book and see if there is anything else about John's ancestors. I got this from Rootsweb-World Connect. Margaret McNail parents were named James McNail (1720--bef. 1796) and Margaret unknown (1722--bef 1796). Andy,I have been looking at the pamphlet earlier mentioned and it has .There are two James Hutchison's listed. One has a wife Sarah Thomas and ten kids. The other is B 1808 and married to a Catherine -----?But I'm sure that this is the right Hutchison family.Thank you for all the help.I just wish we could go further back,I'm pretty sure they were involved in the reformation in Scotland, but no data to prove it. Linda: You may already have this, as there are several submissions to the WorldConnect Project on this line, as well as queries at the Roark Gen Forum. Looks like your Annie Roark was the dtr of Moses and Eve (Staley) Roark, and Moses was son of Timothy and Rachel Roark. Timothy b Stokes Co NC ca 1740. Also looks like Annie's brother Charles married Sarah Rudolph. Mattie Emma Anderson, who married Asa Hutchison, was a daughter of Elijah Rudolph Anderson, who was apparently a son of Richard and Margaret (Rudolph) Anderson. Wiley Jarrell placed this query at the Jarrell Gen Forum http://genforum.genealogy.com/jarrell/messages/925.html and also a message at the JARRELL-L mailing list archives saying Charles Jarrell's parents were Valentine Quincy Jarrell and Marina Turner Adkins.
