    1. Montgomery Archives Move
    2. Frances Osburn
    3. Hi to you all- I just received this message form Jill at the Montgomery Archives regarding their move next week. I wanted to let everyone to know what is going on so they can make plans. Frances From Jill: Our office is not quite ready yet but we are packing now and anticipate beginning our move the middle of next week. Our new temporary location is 2215 Madison Street, that is the Clarksville Gas and Water Building. The Archives' entrance will be on the east side of the building near the Sonic. Coming from downtown, it is just past the traffic light at Richview; coming from I-24 exit 11 on the 76-Connector, it's the drive immediately past Sonic. The phones, e-mail, and post office address all stay the same. We will be closed all of next week, and possibly part of the following week, depending on how fast we can move everything, once the building is ready. I'm working today to get the last of our current research requests answered, but any new requests sent in now will not be answered before the middle of August. If you know anyone planning a visit in the next 2-3 weeks, please suggest that they call first. The reference room will be the first area set up but some of the records may not be immediately available.

    3. Please let me know when you hear back from the author.I am definitly imterested in buying it. In my records I have that he was a Presbyterian too.All the families that I have linked to him are Presbyterians too, including myself.By the 1770 date I would think he was involved in the Reformation.Oh well I will someday find out all there is to know about that family. Thank you,Linda LDevita8@aol.com wrote: The book, if available can be purchased directly from the author. I emailed her tonite and am waiting for a reply. I got my copy in 1999. I think it was about $40 or so. I don't think the country of origin for John & Margaret Hutchison has been uncovered yet as the book begins in Virginia with John and Margaret in 1770--with the earliest known records being the purchase of land. It is believed they were Presbyterians. Linda Moss De Vita Researching: Moss, Blair, Martin, Young, Denny, Hutchison, Rye, Gill, Hester, Clay in TN, KY, NC.

    2. linda
    3. Thousands of first person slave narratives by former slaves were collected in the 1930's by the WPA workers and stored at Library of Congress. These narratives are being put online by volunteers of Project Guttenberg (PG). To read them and maybe find some of your relatives, go to http://www.gutenberg.net/find and type in Slave Narratives, and all the completed ones will appear. Click on the one you want to read online or download and read offline. Project Gutenberg is a volunteer effort to digitize, archive, and distribute cultural works. Volunteers are needed and welcome--complete privacy and no ongoing commitment. www.pgdp.net
