Can someone help me with a contact for the Oakland Church of Christ near St. Bethlehem? My ancestor, James Otho Hancock (1847-1930) was a member of that church and was buried in the graveyard by the church. I would like to look at the church records to see if there is any info on his wife, Mary Sanders Hancock. They were married in the early 1880's in Montgomery Co. Tn. Thanks Dan Vass
Looking for info on a Leslie Vass and Carrie Jolly who got married in 1905 , but were divorced by 1908. Where do I find info on the divorce at the county library? Thanks Dan Vass.

I just learned my g-g-grandfather was George William Scroggins,b.between 1790-1810,N.C. Married a Sarah Underwood,b.abt.1806-1810 Caswell Co.N.C. They were married on May,5th,1827 Davidson co.Tn. In the 1850 census for Montgomery Co.Tn. his son Samuel Scroggins was listed as 17, living with his mother,Sarah, and stepfather Richard Chambers. Sarah's will states they had 3 sons. James Scroggins,b.abt.1829,George Washington Scroggins,b.abt 1830,and Samuel Scroggins b.abt. 1831. Her husband George William had died abt. 1831.(don't know where) In the 1860 census for Montgomery Co.Tn. it list George Washington Scroggins ,wife Elizabeth(Carpenter) and 2 daughters living with the Benjamin Tyree family.Samuel was living alone. In the 1870 census George Washington had moved to Graves Co.Ky.(Western Ky) Somewhere between 1860 and 1870 George had dropped the"R" in Scroggins. Now it was Scoggins. Does any one have any info on this George William Scroggins or Sarah Underwood? Any help will be appreciated as I am against a brick wall and can't find a way through it. It looks like you can print notes using the batch print method. It's not as simple as it should be, but I think that it'd work. On Thu, 12 Aug 2004 Patsulzer33@cs.com wrote: > Roger would appreciate your posting to the list your opinion on new FTM 2005 > thanks so much My copy of Family Tree Maker 2005 finally arrived today. Since I was asked, I'm going to post a brief review of it. I've only played with it an hour or so at this point, so these are early observations. I am not affiliated with MyFamily.com, Inc, and I have nothing to gain by the following observations. The new user interface is much more professional looking. It looks like FTM has finally left the DOS world and become a real Windows application. The family pages are laid out better, and the gray color scheme looks better to me than the pale yellow that they've used for so long. IF you have an account with ancestry.com, you can now search their web databases from FTM. There's a web search button for each person in the family page view as well as the new pedigree chart view. This new search feature will search the ancestry.com databasea and then allow ou to directly merge the information into your database. The family page view now shows 8 children at a time, and includes their name, sex, birth date and place, and death date and place so you can now edit more information about a child without having to change to that child's family view. The Spouse and Scrapbook links for a person in the family view now has a number next to it that tells you how many spouses or scrapbook items they have (if there are more than one of each). The family page also lists the names of the parents of each person in a clickable buton above their names. FTM now has bookmarks. You can add a book mark for people in your database that you view often, just like a bookmark in a web browser. However, you can't bookmark things like reports or graphs. When you use one of the web-enable functions, it now works better with your default browser instead of forcingyou to use Internet Explorer. I use Mozilla, and it will happily pop up Mozilla for me. The biggest negative that I've found so far is that burial date and place are no longer listed on the family page. You can still add that information in the "Edit Individual" window, but I liked it in the family page. _\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_ | Roger L. I received my version of FTM 2005 yesterday. One of the major faults I am having is that you cannot print from the Facts Page or the Notes page. You have to cut and paste from the Notes page, and you are out of luck from the Facts page. I used the facts page as a reference when doing a narrative page in a book I am putting together, and can no longer print it out to see as I work. As with anything new, you have to adjust to the changes....good luck. Alice Nicholson in Phoenix ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger L. FTM 2005 has a TOTALLY different interface. The upgrades getween earlier versions (at least 9 through 11) were fairly minor, adding PDF support, statistics, etc. But the new 2005 versionhas a more graphical interface, a new type of pedigree display, the ability to bookmark views and an edit history. It's a much bigger deal than the previous several upgrades. They started advertising it a few days ago. I ordered it the day that they sent me the first notice, and was told yesterday that it would ship in the next couple of days. _\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_\|/_ | Roger L. Linda, I am using the latest version of FTM and find that it is great for entering data and moving around in the data file. I think it is very easy to use but not very good for making reports. For reports I use The Master Genealogist. TMG is much harder to learn great for reports. I used TMG for the whole book. I used FTM to keep all the data and just read the FTM files into TMG; TMG can read FTM maker files as well as its own. Then one of the innumerial report forms (or you can make your own report forms) is to read out the genealogy report in a word format with imbedded index marks. Then it was simply a question of piecing the genealogy reports togther using Word. In summary, FTM is easly the simplest and easiest to use. TMG is hard but easly the best for reports and handeling the data. Hope this helps, Bob Rye
