Does anyone have access to the will listed below? Help greatly appreciated. Donna From "Tennessee Wills and Administrations, 1779-1861," by Byron and Barbara Sistler. Nashville 1990. Page 21 Bayliss, Patience. 1859. Record book, p. 183, Montgomery County.
Kathy, Elzie Rhea Biter was the son of Marshall Biter which was Robert's brother, the birthdate and wifes name is correct but if you look at the 1910 census he is living with Marshall and it says son. The Biter book is at the Clarksville Library it also states that Rhea was the son of Marshall. They had another brother William Oliver Biter and he was my great great grandfather. 1910 Census Lena looks like Lillian and Lucy Pearl looks like Limpu. But the ages match up with the 1920 census below. Robert L. Biter 1920 Census Dist 20 Robert L. Biter 54 Annie B. 45 Allie 23 Sallie 21 Lena 15 Lucy P. 10 I hope this clears that up for you, Debbie
Thanks, I had some of this but the rest of it helped. One thing, you are missing their son Rhea. All I have is Rhea Biter married Samantha Yarborough. He was born 18 Dec 1904 and he died 9 May 1985. Anna/Annie was the half sister of my great great grandmother. Thanks again. kathy in FL debbiemac62@sigecom.net wrote: Kathy, This is what I have on this line I hope it helps. Please help me make additions/corrections to the descendant list below. Part of my problem lies in that the information given my Margaret Harris Parker in the 1900 census regarding the number of children she had vs. how many lived had to have an error in it. She said she had 8 children with 4 alive at the time of the census ... but I know for a fact that she had 5 children alive at the time of the census, but one of the five was from her first marriage so I'm hoping that maybe she meant that 8 from the second marriage with four living from the second marriage. It all starts with a John Parker in Montgomery County, TN who was married to a Caroline in the 1850 census for that county. Then through the his eldest son that I have record of, William T. The 1877 Montgomery County map is once again available at the Archives. This map is in color and is approximately 34"wide x 54"long. The entire county, divided into districts, is the lower half of the map. The upper half is a close-up of Clarksville with insets of New Providence, Port Royal, Palmyra, and State Line (Guthrie). In addition to the Clarksville and Montgomery County businesses listed, landowners are shown for both the city and county. The cost is $50.00 plus $5.50 postage. If you would like a copy, please make your check or money order for $55.50 to the Montgomery County Archives and mail to P. O. Box 323, Clarksville, TN 37041-0323. If you would like to come by and pick one up, we are open Monday through Friday from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm.
This is an excellent site and a great example of what cooperative effort can do! The information is very organized. Jean History and Genealogy of Williamson County, Texas http://three-legged-willie.org/
Hello Listers!! Just to let the Cave Johnson researchers know. I just found Cave Johnson's obituary today in the newspaper. Also, I found a very, very good and very, very long article where the Clarksville Bar Association held their meeting and voted to devote the entire meeting to eulogizing Cave Johnson. This article is amazing. It talks about his childhood, his professional career and more. It took 5 copy pages to get the entire article copied. If anyone would like copies of these original article from the original microfilmed newspapers in 1866 and 1867, please contact me at: kaitysmom@peoplestel.net for details. In Christ, Melissa Barker
