Regarding Parhams in the Clarksville area--my Dad who is 87 yrs old had a fox terrier that his father bought for him from a Mr. Parham. Any clue as to which Mr. Parham that might be--just for fun? Linda Moss De Vita
Hello List! I received the following message from Rootsweb. Wanted you to know that our list will be affected and not operating until maintenance is completed. Don't know how long this will be hopefully not that long. Frances <<Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with increased performance and reliability for future growth. In the meantime, please take time to visit RootsWeb.com's sister sites -- Ancestry.com and FamilyHistory.com -- where you will find additional tools such as message boards, communities, and databases to help you in the search for your ancestors.>>
Many of you have tried to help me on my Parham lineage to no avail - I finally had a chance to go back to the library for Census Records and I was able to piece together the mystery from these assorted documents. Thank you for those that helped me locate "Sherach, Sheddrick, Chadwick, Shadraq" (my great-great grandfather) this helped me confirm that my great grandfather went by more than one name as well. Elliott Parham (Eli or Elruth - whatever you know him by) was married to Idella Hall (Della). Both from Tennessee 1900 Montgomery County, Tennessee Census vol 51 ed 27 sheet 4 line 67 Lists: Head: Sherach Parham Wife: Sarah Son: Alfred Son: Garth Daughter: Cora Son: Buzco Son: Isham Daughter: Sallie Son: Conwell Son: Eddy Son: Elliot - birth April 1898 1920 Marion County Indiana Census vol 64 ed 220 sheet 5 line 85 Lists: Elruth Parham as head of house age 20, born in TN Idella wife age 18, born in TN Edward son, age 2, born in IN 1923 Indiana Death Certificate for Della Parham Lists: Date of birth: December 30, 1901 Place of birth: Tennessee Husband - Elliott Parham Father: John Louis Hall Mother: Mattie Woods 1936 Social Security Application for Elruth Parham Lists: Date of birth: April 19, 1898 Place of birth: Clarksville, TN Father: Sheddrick Parham Mother: Sarah Kelley
looking for a marriage before 1802 of Thomas Brown to a Esther, last name could be Phelps or Tillit. Thanks much, Deb
For what it is worth, check WorldConnect for a John Heggie, b. abt 1783 in Granville Co, NC and died after 1840 in Montgomery Co. The only descendants shown after the first generation are a daughter's family, but he may have been your ancestor. My connection is my great aunt Evelina Belmont Brunson, who married Leon Alexander Heggie in 1881. I don't have any more information. Elaine Oakes > I have this line of Heggie. Maybe someone can help me fill in blanks, etc. > Thanks. > Elsie > Descendants of Levi Smith Heggie
If the document itself isn't damaged, you might take it to a frame shop and have then replace the glass and the backing. They can use archival (acid free) materials that will help preserve it. You can also make a copy and laminate that. As another reply said, never laminate the original. Elaine Oakes > Along with preserving an old family Bible, how about > a framed family record? The glass on the frame is > broken. Can this record be laminated for permanent > preservation or what can be done? > Deanna
Deanna, For information on preserving and restoring old documents, etc. try http://www.cyndislist.com/photos.htm http://www.cyndislist.com/photos.htm#Preservation "Dear Myrtle" has information on Preservation, but I can't seem to locate the address right now. Whatever you do NEVER NEVER NEVER laminate an original document!! Once it is done, it can never be undone. There are several ways to preserve documents, however, this one should never be an option. Sandy, If your friend runs into Evans' that was on Barton's Creek, keep me in mind.... Peter Seals was marred to Mary Evans.... know they all lived on Barton's Creek, plus her family, close to a Judge Humphrey's Mill. According to Peter's prision record, he and Mary were both born in Virginia. Faye Wilson Keele

Does anyone know anything about the above? Any websites? I got the old family bible today and it is in bad shape. Any suggestions? Thanks, Linda Moss De Vita
Along with preserving an old family Bible, how about a framed family record? The glass on the frame is broken. Can this record be laminated for permanent preservation or what can be done? Deanna
Elsie, I appreciate the response, but my William Erwin Davidson, was born 1847. Thanks though, Dana
I have a William Riley Davidson b. about 1848, who married twice -- Martha Jane Smith and Rebecca Harris Morgan. He had a son, Erwin. If this is the one, I could send you the info that I have on him. I do not have his parents, but he was not the line I was working on. Let me know. Elsie
Hello, I'm new to the list and trying to find out information about my gggrandfather, William Erwin Davidson, who was born January 13, 1847 in Montgomery Co., Tenn. His war records of the Civil War gave his birth date two years later than we originally had. I am trying to find his parents. Does anyone have access to a 1850 census that might tie him in? I would appreciate any help with the family that I can get! Thanks, Dana Elliott
It's "that time of year" when teachers want students to work on their genealogy and I have a young friend in W. VA. that is trying to find some information on her g-grandparents, etc. I don't have a lot of information to go on except their names and it's possible that they may still be living. Is anyone researching the DUKE or EVANS families that might know the ancesters of Mildred DUKE or William EVANS? Thanks for any help! Sandy Ellis
