Not a line I've done much work on, do you think this is a prior marriage? I have her born in 1795. Cary
Pam, Do you have the marriage between David B. Alllen and Martha Battle Norfleet, on 17 Apr 1821 in Montgomery Co. TN. It was published in the Tennessee Watchman on 21 Apr 1821. In the article it just listed Martha B. Norlfeet as Miss Norfleet. I read the information on line but can't find the record. Thanks, Bill Wallace, Radcliff, KY :
Dear Pam Could you look up the marriage between Alfred Ramey and Clarisey Harvey, 1853? Thanks. Angela [email protected]
Bill, Actual marriage records available for Montgomery Co. don't start until 1838. A storm destroyed the courthouse prior to this. Most records were lost. Pam

I have early Middle Tennessee Marriages, if I can help anyone. Pam
That article was in The Leaf-Chronicle on Monday. So far, they don't have an archives of that web site. (Maybe a suggestion from us would help?) The article said that 3 file drawers of documents dating back to the late 1800s had been found. The documents are said to include "bank drafts, notes and liens, livery stable payments. It's got a lot of names of the citizens of that era". Maybe when Jill gets a chance to see what's there she can tell us more about them. Sandy Ellis

Sandra, I guess I need to get stronger glasses, but I couldn't locate this story. Could you be more specific as what to "click." I, I think, looked all over. An interesting article in today's local newspaper gives me the idea that Jill and the local archives recently received an early (or late?) Christmas present that may be of interest to many of us! As most of you know, the tornado-damaged courthouse is undergoing restoration. From what the article says, work crews found some old documents in the attic----dating back to the late 1800s. You can check out the story and see photographs at www.theleafchronicle.com Sandy Ellis
