    3. It's been awhile since I have posted to the Monroe County List, so thought there might be some folks new here who may have family connections. My 3rd great grandfather was Allen D. GENTRY. Allen was um, how shall I say it? Something of a character, to put it mildly. He married his 1st cousin Nancy GENTRY, had at least 9 children with her, and while still married to her, "took up" with Susan IVEY, moved Nancy to the house next door, and had at least 4 children with Susan before divorcing Nancy and marrying Susan (the same month their youngest daughter Arabecca was born-May 1848). Susan and Allen's son Pinkney Burton GENTRY is my gg-grandfather, born in March 1842, or 41, depending on the source. When Allen died in 1853, NEITHER wife would pay to have him buried, so the state of TN did eventually. He is buried next to Nancy, Susan's burial place unknown to me, but she died soon after Allen (I -think- since her kids were farmed out to relatives). PB was raised by his much older half brother who also had a son named Pinkney. They both claimed to be 16 in the 1860 census. Knowing Gentry humor, they probably thought it would be funny to have 2 16 year old Pinkney Gentrys in the same household! At least, that's how -I- interpret that census. Anyway, I would love to share with other Gentry "cuzzins". I am also interested in the IVEY and GRAY lines in Monroe County-Arabecca married Rufus GRAY and they had at least one daughter SUSAN (named after Arabecca's mother). Thanks!
