Surnames: LAWS, DYER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RgB.2ACE/525.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Herman, I did discover more about the LAWS there in Monroe Co., but have no knowledge of your Martha and Rebecca LAWS. Diana LAWS shown as m. Harrison Cannon was actually Diana Louisa LAWS and her husband was Harrison Cowan, not Cannon. They are on the 1850 census in McMinn Co. They named 1st child Malinda Cowan. Diana died and Harrison remarried and moved to Arkansas. Elizabeth LAWS who m. James Emery was Diana's sister, Elizabeth Adaline LAWS and they are on the 1850 McMinn Co.,TN census also. Both these girls are daughters of James Laws and Nancy Harden who married in Wilkes Co., NC 1 Nov 1820. The other LAWS there in Monroe Co. on that 1830-1840 census are from Wilkes Co.,NC and are Dinah's sons and in-laws. I don't know James relationship. He named a daughter Dinah, so he may be brother in law to her also. Dinah's husband now thought to be John Laws d. bef. 1830, son of Shadrach. I was tracking Dinah LAWS and children. Dinah believed to be Dinah DYER dau of Manoah DYER also living there near her in Monroe in 1830. Dinah, plus her married children moved on by 1850 and I've tracked them - several ended up in Kansas.
