They lived in Washington TN until moving to Monroe perhaps in 1844. Asa died sometime in late 1849 or early 1850. After Jessie Monroe Hampton's birth in Jan of 1850, Martha became pregnant by unknown, and named the girl Malinda (her spelling). In a Dec. 5, 1852 letter to her sister Rebecca married to my gg-grandfather Jesse Barnett, Martha told of Malinda's death on Sep. 8, 1852, but gave no age. Martha also told of just moving back to Washington, TN on Aug. 10, 1852. There is a possibility that Jesse met Rebecca in Monroe about 1847, married, and had their first child Mary Jane in 1849. Jesse, Rebecca, and Mary Jane Barnett apparently were not counted in the 1850 census, and may have been enroute to another state. I suspect some of the Laws, Hamptons, and Barnetts residing in Monroe were related to Martha Laws, Asa Hampton, and Jes! se Barnett. Can you shed any light on the relationships beside the ones I have covered? Any information will be appreciated. Thank you. H. Barnett
