I just wanted to add a few words to Sharon's announcements concerning the American Local History Network web site for McMinn County. For quite sometime there are a few folks who have been doing a lot of work to see that documents concerning the historical and genealogical records of McMinn County and the area surrounding it are put into electronic format so that all could have access to them. Documents of major importance were ignored for weeks and months. This is the reason Kaye Buckner Presley, Sharon McCormack and myself have dedicated ourselves to seeing that this is one of the best sites on the internet. We realize that McMinn County, TN is rich in history and has much to offer. It has much to do with early Cherokee people, African American people and early white settlement. It is considered to be a part of the 'second generation' jumping off point for migrations westward. All aspects of this is important to family history researchers. We promise to make this site as good as we can BUT we will need and want the contributions of all. We invite your questions and comments concerning the site.
