Kingston Demolition Range Photo Workshop Pellissippi Genealogical & Historical Society{PGHS} anounces the upcoming release and sale of the first two CD-ROM volumes of its "KINGSTON DEMOLITION RANGE PHOTOS BEFORE 1942." The workshop event will be held Saturday, May 24, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. noon at Clinton Senior School Cafeteria, 425 Dragon Drive, Clinton,Tennessee. The photos cover the lost communties and farms that now make up Oak Ridge, K-25, Y-12, X 10 and the newest Spallation Neutron Source. The photographs, taken by Army Corps of Engineers, cover the homeplaces and buildings removed in 1924-43 for the Manhattan Project. The originals are now held by the National Archives and Records Administration in Atlanta and have never before been distributed in this Re: format for the interest of historians and the interested public. In late 2002 with a funding grant fronm BXWT Y-12, LLC, the PGHS began a year-long project to retrieve the photographs, convert them to digital format and reproduce them on CD-ROM.
