I am trying to locate my Smith kin....my great, great grandmother was Louisa Smith Barfield, daughter of James Smith, born: abt. 1791 in North Carolina. Louisa (Eliza) was born in Buncombe Co., North Carolina, abt. 1832. Her mother's name was Mary. Louisa married James Barfield. They eventually moved to Monroe Co TN to be near kin folk. My great grandfather was James Burgin Barefield, who was the daddy to my grandfather, John Sidney Bearfield. Louisa is listed as Eliza on some of the census reports. Do any of these names appear familiar to you? I noticed you also have a Eliza in your notes. That is why I decided to ask! Thanks, Charlotte
