    2. Hi. Can anyone educate me on the wagon trains? I'm guessing people traveled in wagon trains for protection, but why did they go? Were they going west to get free land? Were they paid to go west? Were there jobs waiting for them? I can't imagine leaving the security of a home in a "civilized" area thru dangerous, unknown territory unless there was a reward waiting. Today, it's much easier to relocate, but it was very difficult back then. Did the wagon trains leave on a regular schedule, i.e., every 2months or every 6 months? Thanks in advance.
