    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Graves/Johnson/Parks Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RgB.2ACE/657 Message Board Post: My great-grandfather was George Taylor Graves (b. 1880, d. 1936). He resided in the Old Sweetwater area of Monroe County. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Johnson b. 1881 Sevier Co., d. 1965 Monroe County). They migrated to Oklahoma where many of their children were born but traveled back and forth between the two locations. My great-grandmother lived out her days in Old Sweetwater and passed away there in May 1965. My mom lived with them in TN for a while in the 1930's. She remembers their grandson named Cletus Parks (his Mom was their daughter). I'm looking for anyone who may still be in the area that is connected to this family. I have found some information but have many gaps I would like to fill. If anyone connected to this family sees this, please contact me directly at the e-mail address above. Thanks!

    3. Tellico Plains is in the eastern part of the county at the foot of the Mountains...where the river exits them. It would not have been near Rhea County at any time. Tellico is an ancient Cherokee Indian village. I found him in 1880 and 1900, but no other census. His birth information came from his son's death cert. The 1880 census listed a Sarah living with him, as his mother - birth place TN. Lucy is his second wife. First wife is Annie Hubert - born Blount County, TN and died between Sep 1875 and the 1880 census. Their first child was born in 1871 - so you would think it wouldn't be too hard to place either of them in 1870, but I haven't found them yet.

    3. Don't forget we have lots of lookup people on our Monroe genweb page who can look up lots of information besides having many of the census online or lookups for the 1900-1930. We look up marriages, cemetery, funeral home, obits, death certs. etc. We don't send out copies of original records, just let you know it exist. This is a free part of genweb. Our Madisonville Library, for a small fee, will copy said records from microfilm. We don't however, have time to research your family history for you. Genweb isn't a part of the service mentioned by Joyce. You'll need to contact her for fees as that can't be mentioned on our mailing list. Joy, co-host of Monroe Co. GenWeb page. 2. A John WATTS paid one white poll tax in Roane Co, TN's 11th District in 1840. Could that be him? Some of the surnames in that district appear in the same district he's in in 1850 - SHORT, HOLLAND, etc. I know it's not a census record, but I hope it helps. ~Dawnelle http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~harrimantn http://TnType.com --- Joy Locke <jlocke@usit.net> wrote: > There's a Richard Watt and a John Waugh in 1840 > Monroe Co. but no John > Watts.
