    1. [TNMONROE-L] William Houston Lorance 1825-1913
    2. I am searching for the parents of William Houston Lorance. He was born in Monroe County, Tennessee, July 20, 1825, according to his pension papers for both the War with Mexico and Civil War. At some point, before William was an adult, his family is believed to have moved to Bradley County. He married first, Mary M. Owens (nee Hill) in 1853, in Gentryville, MO, (Mary's first husband was Joseph Marshall Owens) and second, Louella Clark (nee Rutherford) in 1893, in Auburn, NE. According to William's son, Mary was also born in Monroe County, TN, perhaps Sweetwater. William died in 1913, in Auburn, NE. The death certificate does not name his parents. Much is written about William, as he was a pioneer in Brownville, Nebraska, but never a mention of his parents. Several researchers have tried to adopt William, however, every time I turn up a clue, it disproves another. Might someone have this William in their tree? Does the Monroe County courthouse have birth records that go back that far? Much thanks in advance. Dawn-Moree Dugan

    1. [TNMONROE-L] photos uploaded
    2. Shane S.Ratledge
    3. I've uploaded a photo of Jane Ellen (Baker) Stiles who was the source of the story I wrote and uploaded earlier this week called, "In the Shade of Starr Mountain." It's a legend about Aunt Rachel Hughes. I thought it might be interesting to see a photo of the woman who told this story to her son Arthur Stiles in the early 1890s. Also, I've added some more photos and several additional family groups including one for Cousins Benjamin Brannon and another for Alex and Cousin Doshia (Manis) McAmis. There's another for Aunt Mary (Hampton) Adams Pangle as well as several updates on previously existing family group records already online. To find what's new go to the following URL and scroll down http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~snippe/new.html Hope you enjoy! Sandra Ratledge "Kinfolks in the Knobs"
