TN where his wife Anna Elliott must have died. Renne Murray returned to MONROE CO. TN by 1840 as he is then listed as RENNY MURRY on pg. 177A of 1840 Monroe Co. TN Census with second wife REBECCA UNKNOWN and his children by ANNA ELLIOTT are listed by the 1850 M! onreo co. TN Census along with children by REBECCA UNKNOWN. TN) Wednesday, May 25, 1949: “State’s Oldest Convict From Monroe, Freed---A dispatch from Nashville states that the oldest inmate of the state penitentiary is going to be freed. He is J.M. Brookshire, said to have been a prisoner longer than any other inmate. Gov. Browning is permitting his release by granting a commutation of sentence. The prisoner appeared in a wheel chair recently when he asked the board of pardons and paroles for clemency. He was sent to the penitentiary in 1923 for 99 years, on conviction of murdering his wife.”

    3. I'm looking for information on Jesse Elmore who was in Monroe Co, TN fed cen in 1830 & 1840. He & his wife were born between 1790 and 1800. They may have had a son George who was one page away in the 1840 census of Monroe Co, age 20-30. In 1837 Blount Co, TN, a George Elmore assigned land to William and Jesse Elmore.
