    1. [TNMONROE-L] GILES and HENSLEY - Citico or Post Oak Springs, Monroe Co, TN?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: GILES-HENSLEY-GALYON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RgB.2ACE/245 Message Board Post: GILES, William married HENSLEY, Margaret: 9-14-1835, Roane Co, TN I am looking especially for the *GILES* ancestors of the above William GILES who is said to have farmed close to where Roane and Loudon Counties meet but in pre-Loudon Co days (that is, before 1870). His wife, however, is from a Monroe Co. HENSLEY family. William may have been born in VA. His father - also William GILES - is said to have immigrated from Ireland. Does William GILES who married Peggy HENSLEY belong to any of the GILES families of Post Oak Springs or Citico - both in Monroe Co, TN where Peggy's relatives can be found, or was he in Roane Co near Kingston as his grandson's obituary says? I can find Margaret "Peggy" HENSLEY's parents, Benjamin HENSLEY and Mary GALYON, but for the life of me, I can't find the family of William GILES. If it helps at all: William and Peggy were the parents of James Calvin GILES (abt 1845-1932, a Civil War vet from Roane Co, TN). I don't have the names of any other of their children. Any leads or help to break through this GILES brick wall would truly be appreciated. Thanks.

    2. Hi Melody, I look at the migrations of all these Youngs & Halls to Iowa, Illinois, NC & with Monroe Co Tn connections. Dr. Edwin Hall's father William Hall had a brother John Hall who married Eliza Young in Rutherford Co. NC. They have children b. in ILL.also. They were in Cherokee Co. NC with my Wm. & Edwin in 1850. I have photos of James Young, his wife & his dtr made in Jerseyville, ILL. They had to be cousins to my Edwin but how I do not know. There was a cousin Elizabeth Young who later came to Monroe fron ILL also. My mom said she was Edwin's cousin. She had several children & is listed with 2 aunts from NC on one of the census records in Monroe. I'll send this to the Monroe site, just in case there are any decendents still floating around out there. We'd love to hear from you. Blessed Be, Jo Ann Giles
