Gale was a Civil War veteran and supposedly was indicted for murder with the Kirklands in 1865. Any clue may be the piece to break the logjam! Give me a shout if this is familiar to you. 3. Message text written by INTERNET:[email protected] >Has anyone ever heard of Bascomb Bell, also seen as William R. Bascom Bell, b. 1854-55 GA., m. Phoebe Ellis, name is actually Phoebe Starnes, b. abt 1855 NC. They would have been m. in Cherokee Co., NC most likely but I'm thinking they were back and forth between Cherokee and Monroe Counties. I'm hoping maybe someone might recognize this name and know of a connection to the John Bell family who lived in Monroe Co., TN in the early 1900's, probably before then, but my father, b. 1915, knew John Bell when he was a young boy and John was old then. I have a photograph of the John Bell I'm looking for if anyone would like to see it. Maybe you'll recognize him and can help on this. I'm trying to find out if the Bell family was related possibly to my family. Linda < You'll find some Bell families listed on my website. Robert R. Bell m. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RgB.2ACE/251.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Deborah, I think yours is a different family. I don't know who the parents were, but there were three brothers, Andrew L, William, and Drury. According to the 1850 Wilkinson Co Ga census, Andrew was born in Va. His birthdate was 3-9-1809. He married Priscilla Harris, daughter of George C Harris and Sarah McCray of Madisonville. William was born 1811 Tn, and Drury 1822 Tn. Family history says they were from Sweetwater in Monroe County. One puzzling aspect is that the brothers were geographically separated as adults. Drury lived in Pickens Co Al, and died there in 1888, buried in the Bethany Cemetery. His wife was Julia Long b 1832 Al. They are found there in the 1860-1880 censuses. The other two brothers, Andrew and William, were in Screven Co Ga before 1865, the year Andrew died. William died in 1873, leaving his estate to Andrew's children and to his brother Drury. The executor of the estate was a George Heard, b Maine, who also lived in Screven County in the 1870's. He was a businessman, involved in timber and possibly railroad enterprises. The Millers were probably related to a Parker family. Other names probably related were Burke, Wells, Brinson. I wonder if the father of these brothers died in Tn and his widow remarried and moved to Alabama, perhaps why Drury, who was much younger than his brothers, moved there but not them. This is only a theory. Any information on these Millers, on William T Harris or George Herd would be greatly appreciated.
