Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RgB.2ACE/557.1 Message Board Post: I tried to send a msg. straight to your e-mail, but it didn't work. My g-father, Perry James Smith of Monroe County had a brother named Ross. They were sons of James Smith and Margaret Farner Smith. I know Ross had two daughters, Audrey and Margie. I don't remember ever hearing the name Elgena, but since she died before I was born, it's possible this is the same family. There is a school photo posted on the Monroe County website that has Ross and his brother Levi sitting on the ground in the front row. I sent an e-mail to my cousin Margie's daughter, but haven't heard from her yet. If this is your family I'll be happy to share what info I have.

    1. MAJOR UPDATE
    2. Joy Locke
    3. http://www.tngenweb.org/monroe/1870/INDEX.HTM Thanks to the efforts of Don Cook, we now have the complete 1870 Monroe Co., Tn census on-line. Please give him your thanks. Please read all the notes I have up and instructions for using this census. If you're used to the 1850, then you shouldn't have trouble. This census was hard to read because of the spelling more than the handwriting. So please be patient with us and give us any corrections you know of. The index is an all-name index, again thanks to Don. But again, some ages were up for interpretations so don't stop looking for your ancestor the first go-round. Except for lookups on the 1900 - 1930 census indexes we already have up, you should have access to all available Monroe Co. census. You'll find this link on our main page and also on our RECORDS page under census. Again, read the directions on using this before asking for help. I've tried all the files and they all come up. But should you have problems let me know. Joy Joy Locke jlocke@usit.net Monroe Co.
