I'm searching for information on my grandparents who were living in Meigs Co TN in 1910. My grandfather was said to be J.H. HAMMOND but about 4 months ago I was able to locate my father's family in the 1910 Meigs Co TN census, the census index has the surname of my father's family as HAMMELS. According to the 1910 census my grandfather was born about 1838 and my grandmother Mary L (last name unknown) about 1872, This was the 2nd marriage for both. According to the 1910 census my grandparens had 5 children but only 4 living. My father was the youngest child of my grandparents in 1910. It is next to impossible to be able to tell how the last name was spelled on the 1910 census, so I don't know if the last name is Hammel or Hammond. It is not impossible the last name was Hammel etc: My father and his sibling were place in an orphanage in 1914 in GA. This was the last time the family seen each other. I did locate my father's niece's and nephews in 1998 after years of searching. But I would love to know about my grandparents and who my grandmother was beside's just the name Mary. My grandparents had been married about 12 yrs according to the 1910 census and this was a 2nd marriage for both of them. I'm also interested on information on a Mary L JACKSON b. ca 1872 - 75 in TN and was living in McMinn Co with her parents in 1880. As I located a James & Mary who were living in McMinn Co in 1900 that may possibly have been my grandparents all info on them fits except a little age difference. Once again the 1900 census last name for James & Mary is not clear, and the census index only shows the last name as Han ???? so the person who did the indexing could not read the last name either. Also could anyone tell me where in Meigs Co District 3 was in 1910. Any information on the above is greatly appreciated. My grandfather ....
