This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: FORD, SATTERFIELD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2hB.2ACI/113.3 Message Board Post: Don't know if someone has replied to your query dated in June, but I can give you one or two clues. Under the spelling CAWOOD, There is a Thomas who married Ruth FORD, 25 Dec 1841 in Meigs Co. (Could she have been Charlotte Ruth or Ruth Charlotte?) It then appears that he possibly married her sister or s/i/l, Sarah FORD, 5 Jan 1854, also in Meigs Co.The Mary FORD listed with them in 1850 could well be the mother of the FORD girls.A Benjamin FORD m. Polly FORD, 3 September 1824 in Washington Co., TN. (Several FORD marriages in that area.) The elderly SATTERFIELD woman could well be a grandmother or grand aunt. Most of the early marriages that were extant and are in Sistler's books place the SATTERFIELD name primarily in Grainger Co., with one or two scattered in other NE TN counties.None of the CAWOOD surname is listed in Meigs Co. in 1830, as Meigs was not formed until 1836 from Rhea Co. There are 2 Edmund's in Rhea, & 2 Stephens. Thomas should have been about 12 in that Census, and they all lived in a neat little row. Step[he 1 was 20-30, Edmund 1 was 30-40 and had a ! male between 10-15; Then Stephen 30-40 and folowed by a Sr. EDMUND who was 70-80 years of age. I don't know that this has been of aid. I have little on Meigs Co. in my private library other than the full 1850 State Census as done by Sistler, the 1830, and the "Early E. TN Marriages, Brides and Grooms."
