Dear List Members, I finally received our Thomas Day Pierce Civil War information. All 128 pages. I searched off and on for quite awhile for his Confederate Civil War info. He was settled in Bentonville Arkasas in 1880. I had tried to find a way to collect his information from the Arkansas State Archives. I had a pension number and certificate from Ancestry, but the researcher I contacted could not find him in the index. After she communicated to another professional researcher, the answer was UNION UNION UNION. Confederate soldiers did not receive pensions until very late and would not be listed with Ancestry Civil War Pension Certificates. Thomas married 4 times. *1st to a Mary Hauser *2nd to a Nancy Bandy *3rd in 1866 to a widow Lucy Brown Miller with a child from a deceased soldier James Miller (married by Allen Dethrage). *4th to Phebe Edwards in McDonald Co. MO, living in Bentonville Arkansas 1870, marriage witnessed by a Jones and James N. Boyd. (their daughter Katie, is our line.) My question for this list is that it is stated that Nancy Bandy had two children before she died in child birth. Were these Thomas's children? Lucy and Phebe were contesting widows to his pension claim. I also found where Thomas's parents Stephen and Elizabeth Pierce went after they left Meigs Co. They went to Goode Twp, Franklin Co IL. Thomas also went on to MO and KS before settling in Arkansas. Both he and Phebe are buried in OK. Sincerely, Barbara Long
