I would appreciate help finding some record of the death of a Talton MATHIS. This surname is also spelled MATTHEWS, MATHEWS, MATHIAS, MATHEUS, etc. My last record of him is the 1880 Meigs Co census where he is 78 years old living with his wife Rhoda. Are there will/probate or mortality schedules for the 1880s for Meigs or Roane Co? I have been told that where he lived in 1880 Meigs Co was very close to the Roane Co line.
