You are correct in his location being on the Roane Co. line -- District 7 was the in the north west corner of Meigs on the TN River. District 8 is the north east corner. In the 1880 census, James C. Mathews and Lindley Mathews are on the same page as Talton (7-16-104). Lindley even had a son named "Talton".
