    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McPHERSON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2hB.2ACI/127.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: 1. Alexander Barton McPHERSON was the son of Rev. War Vet. Daniel McPHERSON and wife, Susannah KINCHELOE McP. 2. You will find more references to this man as Barton, rather than Alexander Barton. 3. Daniel McPHERSON rec'd a grant, or purchased land in what is now the fringes of Rockwood, along White's Creek, in Roane Co. He and Susannah were m. ca in Dec 1771, according to a descendant - eloped , evidently came from Leeds Parish, Faquier Co., VA. Both came from Maryland families originally. He is found in several counties of upper E. TN on Tax Lists, etc., prior to records here. He could have lived here long before Roane became a county unto its own in 1801. Barton was the Executor to his father's Settlement. When Barton married, or shortly thereafter, he moved across the TN River and barely inside the Roane Co./Meigs Co. line. In his father's later years, Barton built a small cabin about 1/4 mile or so from his main abode, and the parents lived out their years in that little cabin - which was still standing - though barely, the last time I drove out that way. Daniel, and probably wife, Susannah, were both carried back across the River to the old McPHERSON Cemete! ry. In the 1930's when inventoried, their were many unmarked graves, but Daniel's and a son, Henry, were than marked. Through the years, the markers that were there in the 1930's had deteriorated, removed, etc., and now the site is a mowed hill overlooking the Tennessee River. Andrew Barton, wife and family are interred in a family Cemetery on their old property near Ten Mile, in Meigs Co. Let me look through and see if I can nail this Celia/Cely in this book. I don't find a quick cross reference in the index, but there was a Celia Catherine and a twin, b. 2 Apr 1813 early and died young. so the name has possibilities of being common to the families. Tis book is printed in extremely small print, and is over 500 pages long - so be patient with me! Ha! This extensive and large book on this family, indicates that Isaac is also a family name, and is passed down through at least 3 generations.
