Disregard the message below. It is a bogus email capturing site that has nothing to do with any County. It is a fake site from Garland,TX. It is on the www.home.com domain. I advise you, DON'T give them your email address! Unless you want a load of spam. They could not have been in Meigs County 1800-1830 -- Meigs was not formed until 1836. You might try Rhea which was the parent county.
Does it have an index and could someone see if there are any Davis or Cofers? What many are still unaware of is the fact that since Ancestry and Rootsweb combined and greatly improved all the message boards is that every post that is placed on a surname message board will show up on the mailing list. The subject line will read "not a subscriber". This is a good thing since the mailing list subscribers will see EVERY post without have to switch back and forth between message boards and mailing lists. The new setup is an excellent one and allows each user to manage their own surnames they are searching. Like everything else many have complained about the change but give it a try. It isn't difficult to negotiate. I good place to begin is at www.rootsweb.com Scroll down to the link to "Message Boards" and there you go! BTW, if any of you don't know it www.rootsweb.com has a gigantic search engine. I have found hundreds of hits on one person's name. It's definately worth a try. Joyce G. If there is one of you on the list that has a membership to Ancestry.com, could I ask a favor for a lookup? Please. My membership has expired and I do not wish to renew just yet. Would you please send me the info on those with the surname BRIMER or BRYMER that are listed on the 1790 Federal Census? I'm sure there are only about 4 or so. If you must narrow it down to states, then check TN, NC, & SC. Better yet, if anyone knows where I can access the 1790 Federal Census online, please send me the web address. Thank you.....Marjorie
Frist, sorry if you receive this more than once, but I'm posting at more than one site hoping to find some answeres. I'm trying to piece together a family that fits what little I know about my Martin ancestry and I've found a family in the 1850 Rhea Co. census that could fit. Does anyone know the answer(s) to the following question(s)? The family or some individuals in the family may have moved to Meigs Co. after 1850. 1. Who is the Nancy Martin, 45, with Nancy A., 17, Susan 15, Gilbert 13, John 12, Thomas 11, Eliza J., 7 and Elbert 4? Rhea Co. 2. Do you know who she was married to? He apparently has died before 1850. 3. Is she the 1st or 2nd wife? 4. It appears that Nancy died bet 1850 and 1860. Can anyone verify? 5. If someone has the 1860 Meigs and/or Rhea census: Do you find Eliza J Martin ca 17 or Elbert Martin ca 14? They could be with another Martin family or with a married sister? 6. Does anyone have marriage info (ages in 1850 listed)? Nancy A. 17 Susan 15 Gilbert 13 John 12 Thomas 11 7. In the 1860 Meigs Co. census, what other Martin families are in the Limestone District (other than Owen Martin)? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Donna
