Pisgah Baptist Church is still active and is located just East of Center Point Road 6 miles NE of Decatur. Or about 1 1/2 miles South of Hiway 68. Randolph Gibson (my 3 g grandfather) donated the land for this church). This congregation was organized in 1818. The interesting thing is that it was originally a wooden structure but it was "bricked over" starting in 1949. I could see the original wood on a basement window. I took some pictures of this the last time I visited and if you want, can send you copies. Helen

My great grandfather was John McFarland married to Ann Cooper in and around Tate and Panola Counties MS. I believe my great great grandfather was also named John McFarland (or so my grandfather said). Unfortunately, I don't know his wife's name. Did your McFarland's live around Tate/Panola County MS?? Do you know if your John McFarland had a son named John? According to my grandfather either his father John was named John Henry or his grandfather was named John Henry. If this sounds like a promising lead - let me know. You can email me at babette@asde.net or post a reply. Thanks, Marcia Shaw
