He was born 12 Sep 1888. I don't know anything about his parents. If you do not have the 1850, 1860 Meigs census record for James and Mary Patterson in whose household Mary M. is listed, I can send that to you. It was interesting to see that your Sameul Baker settled in Sugar Loaf in Sebastian County, AR. My husband's ancestors, Jane Moore Williams and Catherine Moore Hoyle lived in Sebastian Co near Hartford. Have you ever run across these names in your research in that county? I will be happy to send what I have on Isaac and Jane Baker if you think it will help in your research.

Mary Patterson also grew up in Ten Mile, does your Baker family have any connections with the Pattersons?

It's been another busy Month at the McMinn County ALHN site. We've added so many wonderful Shelton links, a link to the obit for former Athens Mayor Bill Rodgers, Tennesseeans in the Civil War, a page about McMinn County Educator J Will Foster, Joseph McMinn, the finding of the Old Neil Cemetery, Post Offices of East Tn , Sequoyah, And a page with unidentified photos. We're trying to gather together some images of picture postcards for the Southeast Tennessee area for a page too. If its been a while since you visited you may find something new. If you have documentation that you are from these lines please contact me at dsmitty930@yahoo.com. The lines are: Baillen Brittian O'Neal (b:1770 So. Carolina), his sons are: James O'Neal (b:1790 d: 1863), Phillip (b:1795), Andrew (b;1799 d: 1856 DeKalb Cty), Zacharaih (b:1800 d::1885 Trenton, Ga.), Albert (b:1805 d:1860 DeKalb Cty), and Bird Brittian (b: 1811 died 1863). Some of the lines that I know of are Cuzzort, Lyemance, Maxwell, Gifford, Steele,(thru the Bird Brittian line) Hartline (thru Zachariah's son William's son George Washington O'Neal who Married Nancy Hartline). Brief History: Baillen was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He married Hannah (daughter of Phillip & Martha Sherrel) about 1889 they had moved into Habersham County, Ga. by 1830. Andrew was already there in 1827 where he married Nancy Ann Allen, they moved into Madison County Ga, and by 1850 there were in DeKalb County, Alabama. Albert, Phillip were already in DeKalb County when Andrew and his family moved there. Ballien, James, Zachariah, & Bird were in Trenton, Dade County, Ga by 1840. Baillen and Hannah were not on the 1850 census in Dade County but are on the 1840. They died between 1840-1850 and both are buried in the Baptist Cemetery in Trenton. James P. and Bird were in the Civil War and died in Cold Harbor, Va. with in one day of each other, July 1863. This reunion is the hope of starting an annual event maybe being hosted in other places after this one. It is only fitting that the first one be held on Trenton since the Elder O'Neals are buried there. Details will be given later when and after contact with me. Thanks, Debbie Smith

According to "Meigs County, TN Census and Marriage Records 1850 - 1900" by Bettye J. Broyles, there are no Caywood/Cawood/Kaywood/Keywood in the 1900 Census. In 1850/60/70 there is a Thomas Kaywood/Cawood/Keywood (respectively). In Rhea County 1900 there is a Anderson, and a Lewis Cawood. Also A Stephen Cawood 76 living with Anderson. Let me know if you need any census info on Anderson or Lewis. Rufus Armstrong married Nannie Cawood April 10, 1886, in Meigs County, but I do not see him listed in 1880 as a child in anyone's house, and he is not there in 1900 as head of house. There was also an Abigail Hess and her three small children living nearby that may have been related, though I have never been able to tie her to those other families. Who was your Hess family in Meigs County?
