Hello Sarah and Gail, I read your note with interest about your great grandfather’s letter to TN. Mary Jane White married Lawrence MANGAN in McNairy, TN in 16 Apr 1872 and moved to Kaufman somtime prior to 1880 - I have them in the 1880 census in Kaufman, TX and then they moved to Phalba in Van Zandt County, TX. I am reconstructing this family from census data from 1840 through 1910. Census enumerators don’t spell correctly or list a family nickname on some of them. From a news clipping dated 1932 - the family lived in the “Mud Creek” community were once lived the Parrish, Johnson, Yancey, Butler, Meek, Jones, Wilson, Wilson, Peery, English, Patterson, Tidwell, and Howard Families.
