My husband is a Gage descendant but I haven't done enough research to be very helpful. There were at least two brothers in the area, i.e., Samuel and his wife, Mary Ann, and Mathew and his wife, Kettera. Most of the Gages in McNairy Co., TN., descend from these. Mathew is a little more elusive as he seems to wander from county to county but think he had more children than Samuel. I haven't been able to totally separate the children with any accuracy as yet but think that your John Jefferson was probably from Mathew Gage's line.
